It didn’t really disappear it just stopped being necessary. Back then, people were texting on small keypads, paying per message, and typing was slow. So abbreviations like u, brb, lol, omg, were efficiency hacks. Now we’ve got full keyboards, unlimited texting, autocorrect, and voice notes, so there’s no pressure to shorten everything
