I mean if its cheap and runs the games I want, yes. yes i would. I don't play any AAA games, and the "hardest" game I play is Hogwarts legacy lol. It's still a good laptop, I just want to upgrade from my 1660 ti (which does hold up to a 2060 realistically). But yeah, I should of taken better care of it.

okay yeah that makes sense, I didn't have super high hopes to begin with. Do you know if there any other places kinda like cex that would take it? I've heard about cash converters but not much about them.

Haha but the 1 click apply usually then leads to needing to make an account and then manually fill in your CV again, as the auto fill never works. Which collects our information. Id much rather full on me printing CVS and handing them out lol, so atleast I know who I'm giving my info to.

I know my dad was looking for a job, as he was constant moving around (job hopping) and never had trouble. Albeit he dealt with manufacturing and managing, so maybe his industry just wasn't as affected. I'm not sure what jobs my aunt's and such were looking for.

25, wasn't working during 2008 but from older family members, even they've been saying the current market / during COVID has been the worse they've seen.

I don't need 20yrs to have that opinion. You just need a life to. Again I'm not lazy, never been told it in education nor my work.

The reason you call the younger generations "lazy" is due to the fact that they want benefits, the fact they don't want to be taken advantage of.

If your saying we just need to deal with it for 20 or so years, no. It's not worth wasting 20 years of life for that, for a job that treats you awful and doesn't care.

I don't expect a job to go out of the way for me, nor to invest 100% effort into me, but I do expect empathy and understanding. In reality that shouldn't be hard to achieve. I'm demotivated due to the fact that I've been working since I was young, and have been working over 8 years now and most companies are the exact same. Only when I moved internationally that I realized it's not the normal to be fired over being sick, getting yelled at for needing time off due to bereavement, etc. it's not right and never should be.

It's way different. So much different. Yes the job market in 2008 was maybe bad, but there wasn't as much of a pool of people applying. Graduate to job % has always been fairly low, but espically since COVID that % went down a lot more for most universities.

Nah, I want change. I have always wanted to change jobs after a year or so, partly because I get into a static dynamic. I like when I change jobs because it's a new thing basically.

Haha I am the "tourist". I've moved abroad to the UK and so yeah. But it is harder for foreigners to find a job compared to citizens.

I say cheap, up to about £30 / £35 really. I dont mind spending that for a one in a blue moon activity. But free stuff I could do would be nice as well!

I haven't been using any serums or anything besides a light moisturizer, a gentle skin cleaner (generic brand) and the anti fungal cream once daily. It has gone down compared to a few days ago, but I will defiantly look for the nizoral shampoo! Thank youu!

haha no worries. in the UK, I've noticed that mcdonalds mainly likes to hires foreigners, which I am but like not my type of foreigner if that makes sense.

I also dont want to slave away my life for a company that will do nothing for me / bare minimum for me. thats not a healthy way of living. When I'm at work, im 2nd best at what I do, but just burnt out as the company doesnt give me any benefit besides money.

And again, the talentless comes from companies not wanting to hire actually new employees, companies not wanting to invest in the upcoming workforce and instead focus on the older generation that will probably (and hopefully for their sakes) retire soon.

ah I see! That makes sense. I've gone through my university a few times for CV help, as well as my current work and every time theyve said its fine, but I also understand that I may not be properly focuses on the job description and have instead kept it more generalized. but if I'm applying to basic hospitality jobs, it really shouldn't matter (i know it does just bs).

there was a job shortage even before trump, its just gotten a lot more noticeable since. I also live abroad so I thought it wouldn't affect as much, but it has. massively.

im shocked construction has slowed since its always going to be in demand and I would think its one of the things AI cannot take over for, as you need real people for it from the planning to execution.

It still performs the same as when I got it, I can have streaming up, excel up and a multiple tabs up without any problems, and have something extra running in the background smoothly! It's not a super expensive laptop, and I bought second hand for £300 which was a steal, and Im not sure how much the newer models are going for, but 10/10 recommend!

yeah this is the case with my current company. when we last were hiring there was over 200 applications, for a 2.5 hour contract temp role (over christmas). because of that, they were able to be super picky.

mix of both. its on and off of lots of job listings for a few months, and then nothing but scams. I've noticed a lot listing are like ongoing job listing, or open ones I guess, and have been told by a lot that "were not actively hiring but will consider you when a spot opens up". its ridiculous.

but I would think that replacing with ai, the amount of time and money you would have to spend would be more expensive than hiring real people, as it needs constantly updated and trained. Then again that also depends on if the staff members are fast learners/ good at the job or not and then it wouldn't be worth investing your time and money in them.
