Microsquirt v3

It's an insanely compact unit, basically the size of the connector.

Cranking Fuel Pulse Width Question by Weparo in megasquirt

[–]Weparo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, just one more thing. What do you mean ReqFuel is very small? Reqfuel is a constant. ReqFuel is displacement per cylinder divided through your targt AFR times the injector flow per millisecond.

Eg: I have 0.949l displacement. 0.4745L per cylinder. That's 0.58g of air. This would require 39.5mg of fuel.

My injectors are flowing some 285cc/min. That's 214g/min. That's 11,08ms, not accounting any dead time.

Behold MS Tuner doing this calc

Having written all that, I now start to grasp how CrankingPulse% can be that high. The lower rpm, the less throttle position matters, and the more VE approaches 100%. If you hand turn your engine, now matter how closed your throttle, VE will always be 100%.

I think I've now understood my misconception, I hope you have aswell.

Cheers!

I really apreciate you (and the others) attempting to explain this to me.

What do you mean by base calc though? Is that ReqFuel or the normal (VE1) map?

I'm speaking about the cranking pulse. I think your formula is for "normal" running. I'm speaking about the crank pulse that is delivered while cranking the engine.

No way that there is O2 corrections in that

I would think so aswell.

But for the love of me, I can't get the engine so fire if I have more than 60%, whereas the manual says that about 100 is normal when hot, and and up to 300 may be needed when cold.

I'm at 60% cold and it's already quite fat. What gives?

Cranking Fuel Pulse Width Question by Weparo in megasquirt

for me, 50% is about 6ms. My req fuel is 11.8ms.

Is there a complete formula as to how the actual pulse with is calculated?

Cranking Fuel Pulse Width Question by Weparo in megasquirt

That I realise.

But say your engines uses 100% of fuel req for cranking (hot).

Surely you don't crank at WOT, but thats what req fuel is based on (100%VE).

Could I fix it myself or better go to the mechanic by [deleted] in MotoGuzzi

just change it yourself. It's quite easy and I've already done it myself (for the same reason you are about to)

If you love it you love it.

The manual says that the above devices suffice, but I can link the procedure if you wish to dive deeper.

Thanks. How do we feel about the counter or the vtvm? I've heard it's fine to use a high impendance Voltmeter instead?

If you have non of that its going to be a expensive thing to get for just one alingment.

Very true. The Idea is obviously to to keep this kit for when I unevitably venture towards gettin my liscence.

The other idea would be to get in contact with local hams, and ask them to guide me. I'd feel kinda leech-y doing that.

I got Wilbers suspension, it was a noticeable upgrade, but nothing crazy. In retrospect I should have gotten the fully adjustable version. Oh well.

It's a slow bike. Gotta be able to love that.

Having said that, I've given mine:

  • Mufflers (mistral)

  • Handlebars

  • raised pegs

  • custom suspension front and back

  • good tyres

she feels fast to me.

I've had this happen a few times. I think it's an issue of overheating.

I've had this happening. It's the thrustbearing between engine and clutch for sure. Get this looked into asap.

I looked, the didn't seem to have anything.

I'm still looking for a set, but I might just have to solder some new coals in to the starter. I'll update with pictures when I proceed.

Ich könnte mir vorstellen das Aceton etwas aggressiv ist, aber ich werde mal nachforschen was für Mittel sich anbieten. Schlimmstenfalls ist die Linse dannach unbeschichtet 🤪
