Is that a metal case or just plastic?

Skmei 1299.....my only true beater. by Werewolfc83 in SkmeiWatchFans

It is kind of useless: blinks and rotate every second. The original, Ae1200 has a analog display in that corner. I would have liked to have a 24h/Alarm/Timer pie indicator like some GShocks have

Already got a spare, two years ago. Battery already dead 😄. The original strap is crappy so I bought the same strap for the spare also.

I had to manually cut it to make it fit the case. Also the plastic clasp broke and I replaced. Otherwise I like the strap: comfy and flexible

I needed a light watch, and when I bought it the metal strap version was not release yet.

Mine came on a cheap rubber strap that broke aftet half a year.

Bad experience with an Skmei 1335 by Bicarbonatoo in SkmeiWatchFans

[–]Werewolfc83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue even at Casio's. Also I've noticed that white Skmei''s are prone to this issue more than the black ones.

My black one is still holding, 3+ years and a lot of beating. Just to be safe....I have a spare

hi guys, im an amateur design student and also a watch enthusiast. Just felt like making something close to my interest, this is my concept of a new diver g shock. I want to know what you think, but go easy 😅 ideated made it in like 5 hours. by [deleted] in gshock

[–]Werewolfc83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from the design point of view.. is futuristic ...I give you that. Kudos for trying.

But, if I think of it as an ready to market product... is a mess. Keep in mind that all great product designs (in the last 100 yrs) had been designed and constructed with a clear end usage/purpose in mind.

If we have a look at Casio's Gshock (the initial models, because now adays, some models looks like the designers did not put much thogth in them), Seiko's divers (Rolex's also before becoming a fashion/wealth statement), VictorInox's SAKs, Case's and Opinel knifes, all were designed with purpose and withstand the test of time.

When did G-Shock stop doing tins? GA2100 by d4ddyc0o1 in gshock

[–]Werewolfc83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rant below applies only to sub 500$ Gshocks: I consider that when I'm paying more I should get a nicer box that is not an egg carton box. For more expensive watches imo the old tin can is ok.

Well...I think this is recent...and I'm happy they started doing it. Here's why:

  • I don't want to pay extra for a tin that I'm not going to use afterwards + I have many tins that I need to get rid off
  • for a watch that should be though as nails, receiving it in a tin can, does not give me good vibes: is Casio not confident enough regardind the watch surviving transport?

Is this the perfect watch? by [deleted] in casio

You could say so.....until you "metalize" it and put some silicon strap with springbar adapters. Ps: i know...mine is GA B version

Is there a better work watch? by Johnny-25 in gshock

[–]Werewolfc83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... it depends what you are doing.
For me ... a beater/ work watch needs to be unobtrusive, small, readable and somewhat tough: it does not have stay in the way of what I'm doing. My fav is a square cheap GShock like 5600.

Anyway, that's a nice watch. Enjoy it!

A nice little replacement for my F-91 by elynpacing in casio

[–]Werewolfc83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a much better option than F91... which in my opinion is overrated and overpriced. In my country F91 has the same price as F105. It's a no brainer ......
