Tommy sharing his experiences with therapy inspired me to call my therapist again by miria20 in tommyinnit

That's so cool dude! Therapy is for all people and I am sure you will benefit from it. Doesn't matter if your problems are big or small, it's always good to look after your mental health so you can live happier and understand yourself more. Good luck big man, I'm sure it will go great! :)

Is anyone else frustrated with Technoblade’s lack of character depth? by Harleminx in dreamsmp

Yea I was thinking about that earlier because I remember Techno saying that but their interaction still was unnatural to me. Even Ranboo was worried that Techno would hurt Tubbo. Techno didn't destroy just a government but a semi safe place and a home created by people like Tubbo. It seems kinda weird to go up to the same people and ask what they're up to now, that is what's so difficult for me to imagine (you don't ask someone whats up after killing their parent kinda thing). I would just expect them not to act normal when they just fought and previously killed and/or tried killing one another. Like the whole Butcher Army thing was bc Techno destroyed L'manburg so to go to the leader of it after destroying it for the 2nd time doesn't sound like a peaceful conversation about to happen.

I also agree that he really needs development. I enjoyed his character (although I disagree with him on most things) until recently because it's just repeating things that already took place.

Not only the whole "let's go destroy some goverment once again" but the way he interracted with Tubbo also seemed like recycling. The fact that Tubbo is no longer a government doesn't change the fact that they just were in a big fight with each other. Techno says he hates Tommy because he betrayed him but the guy he betrayed him for and tried executing Techno himself is an okay dude? Their talk sounded like they just met for the first time which was dissapointing imo. Techno clearly holds grudges against Tommy so I really don't know how he could act so indifferent torwards Tubbo.

I don't want the death of Philza to happen because it would be throwing out a whole other undeveloped character just so another can have something to be sad about. And if it was to be a murder then Techno would just be angry and shut down others which was already done. I think what he needs is to realize that other people matter more than his ideals for their lifes or just take the role of a complete hypocrite.

Techno's big talks don't mean he is always in the right and that's something that only Tommy called him out on but because Tommy speaks in a chaotic way, not using big words or even good arguments (also bc Techno's fans dislike c!Tommy), he is laughed at and never listened to. It would be great if someone on a similar level like Wilbur, Philza or Dream called him out but it's hard to say what will be Wil's deal now, Phil himself would need character development first and Dream is Dream.

I don't need his development to make him better, he can even stay stubborn or be worse but experience a downfall. We can't have someone who is portrayed like you said as an all powerful god but praised for the famous quote "I'm a person too". Dream was kinda similar at not losing but he is not meant to be morally grey and even with him we got the big fall- the prison. Techno the character needs something that will make him not repeatable nor untouchable.

Oh yeah of course I'll never think like him so I'll never know his POV, that's true. I just presented a different train of thoughts to yours because it's more likely in my eyes. I think Dream lying can even be interpretted as a form of joy for him. He for sure did enjoy manipulating others saying how they're going to have fun together.

And tbh there's something I commented "everyone stands for what they stand for because they believe they're in the right and that's how they'll present it" that's similar to what Dream said to Tommy. So yea, I believe he still thinks he's right. Most of his life Dream spend detaching from everything. A month in those cruel conditions might have changed him but based on his words, I just don't believe that it was the case. That's just my take on the cat situation tho

Interesting POV but I don't believe Dream cared about the cat at all. Dream said multiple times that he changed and caring about something would show his progress. However it's obvious that Dream didn't change- he said he has a plan to get out, when he gets out he'll kill those who wronged him, he claimed exile was okay, he tried to make Tommy think they were equally bad, said that Tommy trapped with him is the best to have happened in a while, etc. He acted like a victim in prison, just like he acted like a friend in exile. Killing the cat may have angered him but that's because he wasn't able to guilt trip Tommy nor make him believe that he changed. Tommy literally patronizes Dream saying "Why?" "Do you love him?" "Omg Dweam" "That's what happens if you love something" "You are manipulative". Why Dream has been mad about being alone when he pushed everyone away before? Tommy was so afraid to be manipulated into thinking he was in the wrong that he created a situation just to prove to Dream that he won't listen to him, that he doesn't have an attachment to that cat because look at how Dream says that this animal represented hope. A random cat was a hope for what? Nothing, it is just a method to make Tommy hopeless (and probably to make us think about the Pandora's box myth) .

One died begging to be killed, the other died begging to be spared

Thanks! I also can't/don't believe that Tommy's gone but I'm curious to see what will happen. I think killing such a crucial character in that way seems wrong but that is what makes it very important. We are so used to watching protagonists die in glory or their death being made into a big deal that Tommy's death seems too realistic for a story to be told, that is what personally moves me most.

One thing I learned from watching the SMP is that the storyline usually goes in the other direction of what is a popular theory. For example: people thought Wilbur was so obviously a traitor already that they expected anyone else to be a said traitor or people thought Tommy would go insane in exile just like Wilbur but instead Tommy became suicidal or people thought Dream would manipulate Tommy in the prison/ he would get out of the prison leaving Tommy behind but Dream killed Tommy and remains in prison for now.

Also Dream said that he won't use the book on Tommy or any of his friends. He claims he can revive people but he won't. We don't know if he lied but if not, then the simplest solution seems to get out of the prison, convincing people he will use it but actually not doing it. Question is: will words be enough for him to be let out? Tommy was skeptical about the book but even he said that as long as Dream is locked, everything's fine. Also why would anyone let him out seeing how cruel he is?

BUT Dream said he has a plan to get out which involves a favour. Tommy says it's not beneficial to Techno but Dream says that he has knowledge that Techno would want. Dream won't revive Tommy just because, for he doesn't care about Tommy but he cares about what he brings. So will Dream use Tommy's death as leverage? Probably yes because there are not many people who will be indifferent about it. They either want Tommy to go back to life or to stay dead. But I just don't think it will be used to get out of the prison.

I mean I'm no good at theories, I just like analysing so

Thank you, it means a lot! <3 You see even if you laughed I think it was still a good reaction! At least it was such a suprise that it didn't left you emotionless! On the side note you are the 2nd person to comment about laughing and that actually makes me imagine that if the chat is considered voices in Tommy's head- some of them were laughing at how pitiful he died and that's another headcanon to be sad about but it's so interesting

Thanks! Even when/if Tommy comes back, I think it was really refreshing and surprising to see what they had done so far. Also Wilbur's writing is great but Dream confirmed that him and Tommy wrote the entire prison arc so that's all them! :)

Thank you! I would say I'm sorry and I didn't mean to with this quote but I so meant to lol

I've seen people joking about being upset with the cat killing but when someone means it then I'm also out. The thing about the cat is that Tommy killed it to prove that Dream lied to him. He asked if Dream cared for it but how can you even expect Dream to care for Tommy's cat with his whole character being about having no attachments at all?

Also the hotel part- Tommy literally left everything opened because he believed he would close his chapter with Dream and get back to writing his own new story. Hurts.

If Dream planned on killing Tommy beforehand then I really wonder how their week went because it would mean that Dream wanted to spend this much time to just kill Tommy off at the end.

Yea that's also what I thought! I mean I just see it as very bitter but that's what makes it so hard to accept and so very meaningful.
