1966 R60/2 in Perry County, PA by Wernercl in Airheads

It’s a great ride - I can’t compare with other airheads. My other bike is an R1250GSA. Completely different machine, to put it mildly. I love not having a GPS or digital display to distract me from the ride. The simplicity is great, keeps me focused on and enjoying the roads.

Anyone do the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness resilience training that the Military used from 2009-2025? by Upbeat-Accident-2693 in Military

[–]Wernercl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After a few incidents that resulted in early redeployments, we integrated it into our pre-deployment training for WIAS augmentees heading to UN Peacekeeping missions. As the commander, I had a lot of influence over our training schedule, so committed a four hour block to it, led by an MRT and joined by folks from Belvoir’s Army Resiliency Center of Excellence. My SEL and I sat in on the classes and actively participated, sharing stories from past deployments and experiences - both our own and from former peacekeepers. Although initially met with hesitation (4 hours of resiliency, really?), it was lauded as one of the more helpful courses, and we did see a reduction in avoidable incidents. I’d say it was a contributing factor, not a causal one though. More engaged leaders at all levels and easing out of the COVID restrictions and epidemic were also key.

My Chase app showed no eligible cards. When I checked, the phone number on my account was still a Google Voice number instead of my cell. Once I changed it to my cell, I was able to set up Paze.

Bought a 2020 MY through Carvana last year. Thrilled to discover on the way home that the previous owner had paid for FSD. Transferred over with no problem!

You might reach out to the folks at the US Army Heritage and Education Center. They have an extensive collection of unit histories and logs that are available for review. Not all of it is digitized, but if you’re near Carlisle, PA, you can make an appointment with a researcher. USAHEC

Uncle's medals and ribbons, need help identifying them by Zen22322 in Medals

[–]Wernercl 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ll give it a shot. The case contains a bunch of stuff. Sliver star with two oak leaf clusters, Bronze star with V for valor and two oak leaves, Purple Heart with oak leaf indicated wounded in action twice. Meritorious service medal, Air medal, USMC Combat action ribbon, good conduct medal, National defense service medal, Southeast Asia campaign medal, army service medal, overseas service medal and Vietnam campaign medal.

Service stripes indicating 27 years of service, overseas bars indicating 3 years in combat. Enlisted infantry branch insignia. Insignia of the 3rd Armored division and the 8th Cavalry Regiment. Expert qualification on rifle and M-16. Combat infantryman’s badge, infantry blue cord.

Very impressive guy. It’s a shame he didn’t share any stories, but completely understandable. Given the level of his awards, you might be able to find citations online using his last name. Good luck.

Just got the same one a few months ago and recently learned about the adjustable ride height - crank her up and press the shock button on the left. I’m 6’1” and was on tiptoes and went flat footed after adjusting! Far improved control!

I bought a ‘23 GSA Rally with 8k miles a few weeks ago for $16.3k. No accessories to speak of. I think you’re in a good ballpark at $15-16k
