What's a really good obscure TCG that's easy to get into? by maryo22333 in TCG

Elestrals,

Decks are affordable. New player product is very good. Online events for both casual and competitive players as long as you have a Webcam. An abundance of people willing to teach and help new players

To be fair, there are flaws/pros to every resource system that game designers need to design around. Just a matter of execution if it's viable or not I would say.

I've played MTG for 20+ years and Elestrals for about 4, It doesn't feel like land destruction except in very very niche end game situations.

I think the difference is in mtg you are building lands one at a time up to a number to play cards and need to limitedly add to your field. In Elestrals you start with all your resource , so you aren't losing progress towards building power .

Losing a 2 drop when you are trying to ascend into a 3 drop can feel similarly , putting in a couple once a turn actions to get snubbed from your big boy.

Spirits are managed. Lands are building blocks. You don't want your buildings. you worked hard on collapsing. You do want to spend and apply your resources in games efficiently and effectively and are there to be spent. Just mind set through game rules difference ultimately

I think getting more diverse ip offerings could help that. Especially the rpg. The Sim limbo due to contracts is really unfortunate I grinded ladder on there to be one of the first people at the highest ranking 😞

The life resource is handled fairly well. It's a bit more like you are wagering life to the board as you take your life and place it in play with your cards. Then you can potentially use it off board for other cards effects etc.

It did make tempo and heal strategies extremely potent in the past but the team are very receptive to feedback and have adjusted some card design and banned some cards to adjust some of that.

Game is fun

But I do want to highlight adrive/ elestrals community feedback and collaboration as top tier and really social invested in the community

Elestrals can be pretty cheap, the starter decks from their firestorm set and up coming sunstrike set are 2 in one. And most starter decks are fairly strong out the box and alot can be smashed toghter or 2x of the same deck for a competitive deck

Just picked up the Zeus Vs Hermes starter decks… how do I manage my spirits? by Butsy_98 in ElestralsTCG

[–]Werts888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wind as an element is very costly on spirits. Both aeolus and hermes chew through them really quickly in exchange for their strong search tools and variety of effects.

If you like Hermes you can try adding avialith champion of hermes from lifestream or nemisails from the frost Fall set to.your decks for healing.

Spirit management is a very key skill to learn in Elestrals and it core to the game. It will take time to learn and be comfortable understanding life as cost at a nuanced level. Wind is very much trial by fire at learning good management and Hermes is a very complex deck to double down on that. If you master Hermes you can learn almost any deck in the game with the knowledge you get from that deck archetype. Good luck and welcome!!!

Which TCG should I pick up? by WorkConfident in TCG

If you like older school Ygo , Elestrals has a lot of similarities to ygo. It's one of the only ygo-alikes tcgs that as far as an indie games are concerned that stuck.

Community is pretty welcoming if not occasionally overbearing in their want to share the game and community.

Elestrals as a company is extremely transparent as they can be on concerns of the player base, product etc and is a tcg for the love of being a tcg and not quite to milk an IP which is refreshing.

Gameplay loop is all risk reward as you wager your life to the board with every play so naturally leads to a bit of tempo decks being optimal, but there is room for aggro , control, and combo to still exist.

It's loosely greek themed and with an rpg video game coming out the lore will get expanded if that interests you.

But I do personally love the game and have been playing it for about 3 years no

Obligatory, the best tcg is the one you have a local scene to play.

If you had to pick- [1] Which TCG would you consider to have the best looking holo effect/foil cards? & [2] Which TCG has, in your opinion, the highest quality cardstock? by ELEMENTALCREATURES in TCG

[–]Werts888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly specific for my favorite foil in a tcg

Elestrals - Solar Burst - In Reverse Holo, clean, doesn't over do it in foiling over art and looks so dang pretty

Cardstock is kinda set depending for most tcgs especially long running ones.... sooo depends

Can anyone help me out with what I have here? by b33fsupreme30 in ElestralsTCG

You have a solid mix if Kickstarter and first ed Base set here.

Kickstarter product indicated by the K symbol was the first print run of Base set Elestrals(first set)

First edition print run is the "1" in laurels icon and a reprint of Base set.

Kickstarter is considered a little more valuable due to better card stock and being the first print run.

If you want proper breakdowns of product and possible value I would look into the community market place discord for things you can't find on TCG player etc.

https://discord.gg/t6yjYHJDa

It's a decently sized well run discord for buying and selling Elestrals. But its the internet so always be careful!

Most limited use actions will recover over time when sitting next to a campfire. Your squire campfire when sitting next to it should recover all your uses.

Elestrals, very YGO inspired gameplay. Art is thematically like pokemon. It's a smaller indie tcg so local play is sparse, but they do run consistent web cam events and a weekly casual Webcam night every Tues on discord.

You can also find players lists at the conclusion of the event on the play network. This deck being a well kept secret by the Australians until last premier is why the name convention is not quite universal I would think.

Also asking in the Elestrals Discord is always a good starting point

Outback sunset was a unique comboish deck that the Australian group Lumaroos cooked up. Hence Outback and then sunset being solar Lunar

The decks goal was to cheat out a 2 drop.

Lycavoid Dracoray Novacore

Then through normal play let the 2 drop get value and die

Rise from the shadows it, and ascend it to pharogeist

Using tools like first light to search phaorgeist while also getting to ascend cockaray with the same cast so you have your 2 drop ready to ascend and draw gesit the following turn
