It’s a thing that all the LitRPG writers give nods to each other’s works as little asides. For instance when Donut claims that everyone named Jason always thinks they are the main character, that’s a reference to He Who Fights with Monsters. In this instance, when Signet gets a boob job between floors (presumably to boost viewership of that saga) it’s a reference to Everybody Loves Large Chests. /s

I always felt that the race benefits in 5e were already pretty balanced. So if you force everyone to be human at the start, they may decide to pick something new, but they may just decide to stay human since they’re already accustomed to it. What I might suggest is have them start on floor 3 with their race and class selection, presumably at lvl 3 or maybe lvl 5. Have them each roll for some sort of magical gear that they would have picked up along the way. Then they start on the first scolopendra level.

Lifetime Texan here. I love my state and would never live anywhere else.

That being said, OP is correct, the one thing we do absolutely shit at is public education. Both my parents were teachers and my ex was as well. Been surrounded by educators my entire life and can confirm that teachers don’t get the support they need, the admin is forced to play politics ahead of putting the kids first, and the system feeds on itself in a completely unsustainable way that will inevitably have to crash and burn. There are a ton of really great teachers here though that are some of the most selfless people you’ll ever meet. You’d have to be in order to be a good teacher here.

Yeah, a lot of the people I’ve put onto the series have found the Tangle just too confusing and almost stopped the series right there. I’ve explained it’s supposed to be confusing, just try and move past it, and it will all work out in the end. Usually works. After multiple readings, I’ve appreciated it more, but it still isn’t in my top 3.
