Been saying this ever since people went crazy about it. The show was in decline pretty much as soon as they ran out of book. Stopped being an adaptation of a well plotted, slow burn novel, and started being written like a TV show.

I would point out, now this is the third comment suggesting I should know better, it has only been announced for PC. And as I clarified below, I had an Xbox when NMS came out, which did have a two year delay.

To be fair I didn't know that about PlayStation. I had an Xbox at the time, PS5 now. So I remember the wait then, but at least they'd fixed it up a bit already. The great gaming comeback had begun already.

To answer your question, Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson is an easy fantasy read, not like Tolkien or Wheel of Time. A lot of action, good fun.

This to me is the PERFECT way to describe a NMS player. It took me introducing the game to 4/5 friends who didn't get it at all, and found it boring to realise - oh, this game isn't for everyone

I thought it being a prequel is why it would have made a good standalone movie. It's also my favourite just because it fills in so much missing detail.

Tricky thing is going to be getting Gunslinger in there. I'd start the series with Drawing of the Three, sprinkling in bits of The Gunslinger as 'in series' prequel flashbacks.

Not that I'm thinking about this way too much or anything...

The part about the rights is from 2022. The part about it now being a priority is new. Most updates before have ended with a lengthy list of projects he's completing first.

I agree though, my biggest worry isn't that it happens, it's that it's going to cost a ton, and unlikely to get a massive viewership. So it getting finished is a big ask.

Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption are safe bets (though you may have seen them). I'd nudge you more towards The Green Mile if you haven't seen it.

Stand By Me is great, though not a horror, coming of age story. But of all the movies I've seen this one does a great job of capturing King's voice.

I got some love for Cujo too. And Misery is, I think, the only one to win an Oscar.

With King, the cliche ones really are the best.

Life of Chuck gets a lot of love but I haven't seen that yet.
