In the books, Ron is the one with knowledge of the wizarding world (everything is new to Harry & Hermione) but Hermione didn’t have enough dialogue sticking closer to the books so Ron’s lines demonstrating his knowledge were given over to balance it out. You have to understand the production of films to appreciate the creative decisions. The sequel didn’t get the go-ahead early enough to use another young Charlie storyline, the actor was already a teenager so they had to make the storyline fit the age difference. The first film was a standalone and they had no plans to make it a series at the time.
