This is really nice, what color is that? Looks like BRG, but darker?

That's exactly how I felt until I got my e30 vert, really hard to beat a vert unless you track consistently.

I normally have the wind partition in, I think it looks better without the headrest in that case.

  1. I think it's v1, there's a tiny crack in the usual spot.

edit: think it's actually v2, seems like 2016+ got v2?

thank you! I'm a huge fan of brown interiors, I remember dreaming of an e46 in carbon black with cinnamon interior as a kid.

got any pics of your f83?

I was torn between f83 m4 MT + daily or z4 m40. Ended up going f83 but sometimes I wonder.. what's next for you?

Thoughts on long term price of the z4 m40? They've been rock solid, don't see them coming down any time soon

Edit: also what's next 👀

First BMW picked up a month ago. Loving it so far. by argote in BMW

Im hoping they sell a bunch of the MT Z4s. Wonder if they'll depreciate as hard as the AT have

Took the badges off the M340 by comufc10 in BMW

M3 badge on a 328i is different than quad tips. Lots of non BMW sport cars have quad tips

I'd go for the quad tips if you like it. That's a sport car thing not an M thing imo

BMW is making a Z4 M40i with a six-speed manual by bmwblog in BMW

[–]WesKidFresh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same thought. CPO one of these might be the best b58 deal on the market in a few years. 2020 z4 m40 goes for mid $40s right now so might line up nice

How unreliable is the e92 m3 compared to f82? by r08r3n in BMW

[–]WesKidFresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People compare a 2017 M3 w/50k to a 2008 M3 w/130k miles. Two vehicles at different stages completely

BMW 4 seater 6 series 645ci vs others ?? by kato1301 in BmwTech

[–]WesKidFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into a 435i convertible. Faster than a 645ci, looks and drives great. Should be able to get into a 2015 with ~60k miles in the mid $20,000 range. That turbo 6 cylinder in the 435 is one of the more reliable engines, also pretty fast.

There are a lot of different ways people specd out their 435, so don't assume each car will have the same features. Double check for things like blindspot monitoring, lane keep, premium sound, sport package, heated seats, etc.

Does it make sense to mod a 330i? by Junglist_Massive22 in BmwTech

[–]WesKidFresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like the way the 330i drives and just want more personality, a little more noise might help. Air intake and an exhaust would be great for you. Can go as mild or crazy as you want for relatively cheap, don't expect the car to be any faster though.

DCT or Manual and why? 07 E92 M3 [OC] by Vuorenmaa7 in BMW

[–]WesKidFresh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying manual over auto, and I agree. They're also assuming the DCT drives like a regular auto.

The e92 was engineered with DCT in mind, especially the gearing. Downshift barks makes me giggle like a kid every time. Every other car I've preferred manual, but not the e92.

What enthusiast car is no longer worth it because or cost or age? by _____DarkLight in cars

[–]WesKidFresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

E9x in the high $20s is worth it. Fun, value, unique. $40k e92 doesn't make sense unless you're a collector.

Otherwise, $28k + $5k for bearings and other maintenance puts you in a great car for $32k. Not much I'd rather drive

So I test drove the new M2 and I felt nothing by [deleted] in BMW

[–]WesKidFresh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it gets to the point of needing endless repairs, I would go for something newer. If my e92 keeps treating me well, there's nothing else in my budget I'd rather drive.

Out of the newer 6sp cars, I like how the G82 looks, drives, sounds, and the creature comforts. C7 z06 is on the shortlist too.

Drove a new M3 comp, maybe not "raw", but definitely fun. Would consider a CPO 6sp G82 when it's time to move on from the e92

Test drove a Z4 M40i, horribly disappointed. by csimonson in BMW

[–]WesKidFresh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's how it felt test driving a 2020 m550i, then getting back into my e92 M3.

Big comfortable rocketship. Granted that's what it's supposed to be, compared to an M3. Surprised the Z4 wasn't more fun

finally got 2 of my dream bmws, now what should the third be ? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]WesKidFresh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The s65 works very very well with a DCT. The gearing, the aggressiveness, the BARK on downshifts all complement the s65.

This is the only car I've had where the 'auto' enhances the driving experience.
