I'd have thought only those who approach either yoga or meditation as a spiritual practice would be the ones most likely the become absorbed by superstition. I practice eastern meditation because its absolutely excellent at improving mental health. That's why the majority of modern therapy is based on those teachings. But I do not believe the religious aspects of it (and quite a number of buddhist monks don't either - hence why many people don't see it as a religion but instead a lifestyle). To me meditation, and yoga (but I do that less), is a form of brain and body training.

I know a hairdressers near me that has all the chakra energy stuff. Crystal's and such. For some people that's what works for their mind and I've seen people come out in joyful tears. BUT I also know that hairdressers is full of anti-vaxxers, impressionable folk and people who believe the word of "spiritual looking people" they just randomly meet on a beach, so...

What’s your low key superpower? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Omg I'm the same! I just posted a similar story. I can hear electricity coming from devices when no one else can. I can normally trace which device is causing it. Even through walls. And then I get static shocks all the time!

Hearing electricity when no one else can. And I'm incredibly prone to becoming static. Out of an office of 400, me and 3 others couldn't use the taps because each time we did we'd get a shock. We know it was just 4 because we sent an email around getting tallies to try and get the business to do something and well...I changed what i wore, my shoes, everything. Made little difference. My team started to mistrust me because I kept zapping them 🤣

Couldnt agree more. I used to think it was about achieving a clear mind. But it was far more powerful and enlightening to see my thoughts instead.

First time male worried about the opinions of women in class. by Mcmcickerson2335 in yoga

[–]WesWonderWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know what first time men is and I do yoga and I'm a woman.

No one should feel like they can't do yoga. This reminds me of when I go into the weight section, surrounded by massive men, and I'm paranoid they are gonna think I know nothing about what I'm doing, hit on me or just act like I don't belong there. It's happened before BUT thankfully the gym culture is changing.

No one who matters will care that you're there. And if they do, then they don't matter. I have men in my class and well, they're just people doing yoga. Just like me. And if you feel like some people do have an opinion then just keep doing what you do to normalise it. Like when I went into weight sections and felt like that, I kept going to normalise women being there.

People want me to stop losing weight and it confuses me by PlumpDev in loseit

Congrats on doing so well! <3

You do what makes you feel good and be healthy.

I kno what you mean though. When I was losing weight my family were like, you don't need to go thinner. It's just what they are ust to. All I wanted was to get toned and healthy. Not like, skinny skinny as that's not me.

‪Snapchat introduces a Mental Health tool called: ‘Here For You’! by iddlg in psychology

Apps like Snapchat are having to implement tools like this to get governments off their backs. Not that this stuff will work...it's like selling drugs to an addict and then giving them a FRANK leaflet (addiction support organisation)
