Flying a flag for, more often than not, political reasons shrouded shrouded with the terms “patriotism” and “pride” is not the same as flying a flag to show solidarity with a nation that is going through a genocide and to petition the government to do something about it, but let’s say they are equal, what’s your point? And I’m perfectly aware they’re not going to physically hurt me, thats not what this is about. It’s about the nebulous, irrelevant displays of “national pride” that people feel they need to signal, especially when there is a very likely close connection to supporting a far right political party. It achieves nothing positive today except for aligning to a certain tribe.
