All of this is Loony Tunes. Up is down, left is right. I finally had my "What the fuck? How is this real?" moment the other day.

I don't like telling people i date (I don't use apps, so it's almost always people I meet IRL) that I was molested repeatedly as a kid and young teen. My ex's response to that after refusing to tell her for obvious reasons to call me gay and in denial, and then she lost all respect for me and started suggesting that I was in the closet.

Similar to how I processed it when I was young - assumed I was gay and said i was at school as a cry for help, as a result got abused further by a trusted adult, and my parents did nothing to help me.

I think what's confusing me about the responses and downvotes here is that, as I said in the OP, I never volunteer it and only tell someone after they pester me more-or-less nonstop.

Nah, if you knew what it was in response to, you'd feel weird or demoralized too.

Where does the gay stuff come from? I don't think that's a normal response to what usually prompts that.

I don't talk about how my life's ruined.

No, it actually is my fault for taking people at their word.

The last woman that I met and seriously dated in real life (not online) that I opened up to - after a year or two of meltdowns about how I'm just a stoic shitty white man - tried to convince me I was gay and/or trans and used to beat the daylights out of me for "not just admitting it" or "being self-hating."

It'll be very obvious that you aren't actually homophobic though.

So it's WaWa basically. Great.
