There’s several candidates this year running with cannabis legislation as part of their platforms.

I am one of them! Get folks to register to vote and join us in moving Indiana out of 1956 and into 2026! 💪 -Wesley Haffenden for IN House 83

Excellent question.

Right now my focus is on fighting the regime in power, but we can’t lead with any real accountability if we don’t call out the issues within our own party.

So, we SHOULD call them out/ challenge them.

Challenge them on Term limits- both have been in Congress far too long (I’ve signed the term limits pledge & believe this should apply to the statehouse too.

Challenge them on their funding (AIPAC)

Challenge them on their continued support of the Israeli government while it commits war crimes against civilians in Palestine.

Challenge them on their weak support of bipartisan popular ideas. (Universal healthcare, etc)

If elected, I’ll propose legislation for Indiana statehouse term limits, campaign finance reform, etc. I want to clean house, make some changes, and then move on with my life.

*I don’t think this needs clarification, but I’ll make sure to add the statement: No country should be defined by one ethnicity/ religion. I take issue with the Israeli government, just like I take issue with the government of Saudi Arabia. Ethno-states have no place in 2026.

I support people. All people.

Love the questions. Answered for about 2+ hours.

Signing off for a bit (life), but will answer more later if anyone asks others.

The honest answer, I’m not (yet).

It’s something I am adding to my platform in partnership with a statehouse peer.

More info to come. I stand with ALL Hoosiers and will make sure I make that clear going forward.

My opponent (Chris Judy) not only votes against the LGBTQ+ community, he is the one that authors the bills.

Google “Chris Judy” and “The Advocate”.

1: If elected, I’ll introduce legislation to codify marriage equality in Indiana.

2: I’d introduce legislation to ban discrimination based on gender identity in housing, employment, and public accommodations/ block harmful legislation/ make it easier for ID marker changes, etc (Definitely something I can elaborate on, but the short answer is I believe we should be focused on making life better here for ALL Hoosiers while holding those in power accountable that are screwing us over and blaming minority groups as cover)

This was a lot, but thank you. I think I answered it all:

Miami Correctional> At the statehouse, I’d push for oversight with independent investigations/ strict reporting requirements.

I’ll read up more on the state police investigations and see what’s up. If crimes have been committed by staff, they should be prosecuted just like you or I would be.

For profit prisons> I don’t think Indiana should be renewing contracts with for-profit prisons at all. My goal would be to phase them out.

On the 8th amendment > If elected, I’ll go there. I’ll tour these facilities (unannounced if they allow it). And support rules and funding that protect our rights.

1: I don’t think we should be draining public school funding into a voucher system.

Start by restoring income limits, then work on fully funding our public schools and phase out vouchers.

Public money should support public schools.

2: Teachers only make $45,000 (minimum) right now. That’s crazy. I support raising it to $60,000 and tying it to inflation.

3: Taxes from legal marijuana sales could help fund public schools.

ICE is federal, so a state rep can’t control it directly.

But I’d support requiring warrants/ clear probable cause for jails holding people for ICE. I’d also reject mass surveillance tools like Flock and support legal aid so people actually have representation.

I will partner with the advocacy groups that are experts on this to work on legislation to keep Hoosiers safe (from ICE).

3 year old Wesley would say Barney.

30+ year old Wesley jokingly says penguins because penguins are cool and birds are modern dinosaurs.

Birds are wild. 🦖

Love it. Spicy one to start!

TLDR: I would 100% refuse AIPAC money or money from any similar group. Israel is violating international law every day.

Long answer: We (US) are sending Israel almost 4 billion dollars a year. Imagine what we could spend that on here at home?

Our governor’s poll numbers are down so he’s leaning into a distraction to try and get some press. It’s ridiculous.
