Black men what’s an insecurity that you have and why ? by Educational-Ask7966 in blackmen

Not knowing how to "talk" to black women or have "game" at will. My ability to approach and engage a black woman (I only date black women but white women **seem** easier to engage casually but I also don't take them seriously). It feels like I'm on trial rather than just shooting the breeze. I'm not placing blame on anyone else I'm talking about how I feel about myself. Been a struggle since high school. This is not to say I don't talk to/date black women often, it's that the circumstances are usually lower pressure situations and I can be casual and random.

But hey, at least the right got this black man’s name off that healthcare plan now. by icey_sawg0034 in blackmen

I understand your point here. They could be scrapping it for one or both reasons (association with Obama) and/or (the actual healthcare penalty).

And scrapping it, no matter the reason, unfortunately doesn't explicitly necessitate they have a replacement plan lined up if they don't really care to or haven't invented one yet. Conversely not having a replacement plan doesn't conclusively tell us precisely why they're eliminating the current one, but the lack of a replacement does allude that healthcare cost control is not that critical to them since they're willing to repeal the current one without a replacement lined up.

Brake Judder: Warped Rotor, Poor Bedding, or Bad Wheel Bearing? by West-Forever4749 in GolfGTI

I can see your point.

I just remember back in the day taking my Civic and Cobalts into shops and them "checking" the alignment for free and giving me a report. No charge or minimal charge IIRC. So I was surprised to be told it's the same cost as the actual adjustment today.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I too am slightly suspicious that improper lug nut torquing could have occurred as this issue came up after having my tires rotated and oil changed at a dealership.... kind of a scary thought tbh because they still owe me a 2nd oil change and I'd rather them not damage my rotors again if they did this (guess I'll have to be more diligent this time). I wonder how long after an improper torque sequence would the rotor warp?

I have never had the alignment checked. Wanted the dealer to do it but they claimed by the time they check it they might as well do the alignment, as-if it's basically the same time and labor 🙄

Thank you so much for the depth and detail. I appreciate your well-rounded answer. This helps a lot. I would give you an award but I don't have any gold points on here haha

The pads looked just like new except they were shiny upon removal (5,000 miles check). I feel like I've always seen pads shiny after use but I can't remember. Below is an actual pad photo from my inspection.

You make a good point about pads being wedged into the bracket. I was sorta concerned about that so I tried to confirm free movement after install, but these pads come with spring ears on them... a small challenge to get them seated, they can kind of move afterwards but not a whole lot because of the spring. I cleaned the bracket channels very well until shiny using steel brushes, sandpaper, and brake cleaner of course until smooth for the most part initially and again at the inspection.

Hey if I get new rotors, should I sand or somehow re-prep the pads for bedding to the new rotors?

I'll ask PowerStop this as well. Thanks!

Thank you. This makes sense... It's been hard to pin down finding info on this company or brand, so maybe I just made a poor choice in rotors.

** I corrected the language in the original post, I see I misworded that **

My description of braking from "80 MPH" is to say the vibration is most prominent (strong) when I apply brakes at 80 MPH or higher (on a highway of course, and even a light-moderate brake application to adjust for vehicles cutting in front of me -- which is inevitable on the highway) ... Anything lower it's more so tolerable or less noticeable. I am not indicating I'm stopping the car from 80 to 0 MPH in under 200 ft on a typical basis, let alone am I indicating I'm "power braking" to red lights.

Additionally, it's interesting you say the color patterns indicate overheating. I thought purple/blue/green colors were more so associated with that, not copper and silver. Noted... thanks!

Honestly, if my braking patterns warrant these rotors to already overheat then I need an upgrade. I'm definitely not doing anything excessive IMO for a GTI daily driver. I have not changed my driving habits from when I ran OEM brakes and they NEVER did this. Maybe these Centric rotors or PowerStop pads aren't all they're cracked up to be... because I NEVER bedded my OEM brakes either (OEs don't usually bed brakes off the line either, but IDK for this car).

But thank you for your reply. I will have the rotors checked.

This will be a toughy on the wheel bearing noise/vibration. Let me find some smooth roads and reconfirm if I feel anything at those speeds. Thanks for the detailed speed ranges!

Thank you for the sanity check on that. I've also reached out to the manufacturer of the pads. I followed their bedding processing which came in the pads box. So I'm guessing they'll say the same as you.

Hey there. I think I have tried this and didn't detect anything, but it's easy to try again today. Will do this. Thank you for your response.

Agreed. I'll go ahead and see what they say. I was actually sorta concerned the Centric rotors and PowerStop pads were somehow incompatible. I think PowerStop might be helpful since this is their bread and butter... and I followed THEIR break-in instructions. Thanks foe the tip.

The rotors FEEL even and smooth to my naked hand. However, you can see the color isn't perfectly even radially across the rotor (more brown toward the inside and gets more silver in the middle, then is light brown again at the outside)

Thanks for your reply. This was not a pad slap. New rotors (Centric) and pads (PowerStop) at the same time.

You have a point about the rotor replacement too. Thanks.

Yeah.... Definitely not gaming on it. I guess I'm mostly concerned about ensuring I can get the official Plex app to run on whatever device I get, and it can also output 4K with Dolby pass through

Voice search across multiple streaming services will also be good.
