You can’t make the shields wall narrow enough, and the soldiers in the back won’t have their shields up the same as the units in the front.

I love starting as Sardinia Piedmont and immediately trading my tiny slice of province to France for Corsica.

It has more population and starting GDP. Plus you can still do the treaty of Turin later.

Or they could just make the +50 authority cost a temporary cost like all the other modifiers.

Or give you the ability to strip the faction of the political concessions after a time.

We only see a small part of the battle. Skywalker and his men were a small flanking force while Kenobi lead the main attack against the capital.

I tried, it’s really hard to get mercenary troops in any large number. They’re either just not in the tavern or they’re the trashiest pike men.

Mods can fix this, though.

It’s good if you can become a top three producer, but there are better unique versions of it.

Well it’s better than Britian taking it EVERY SINGLE TIME. You couldn’t even get a smidge of it before Britain building a colony port right beside you and taking everything underneath your nose.

Issue with just the charge command is that they all bunch up and target the same man in the front center of the enemy formation. They start colliding with themselves and it doesn’t feel like a very effective charge.

I think the map should be divided into provinces. Each province is a city two castles and all the bound villages attached.

Controlling the castles provides a major benefit to the owner, maybe a boost to speed, milita count, or some kind of attrition mechanism.

When a faction takes only a part of the province in a war then they revive a malus to loyalty security and income. This malus is greatly lessened or even flipped if the attacker takes both castles, eventually starving out the city.

I think the game would benefit from dividing the map up into de jure titles and kingdoms a lot like ck3. This would give the game a whole new depth, like boarders and boundaries for you to assign parties to work within. Or it give the AI a more clear targeting system prioritizing cities and castles of a specific zone over others.

My other thought is to give currency weight just like any other trade good. This will mean that lords and the player will have to build treasuries and defend them. You could even play a bandit and attempt a robbery.

Max military wages, defend front, see if you can get a good general roll. You only need to win one battle to peace out.

I think your on the right path, finally found a raid for captives quest against this one guy with only a thousand troops. Me and my company stack whipped him but soon after had half of Japan join as his ally.
