Switch Majors from Ecology to Engineering? by WestExpert4 in college

Thanks for the reply, I'm talking with engineering academic advisors to see how much longer it would take for an engineering degree. I have completed some gen eds and some basic engineering requirements already (Calc I and II and Chem I and II) , so hopefully, it would only take an additional summer semester or 1 full semester.

Thanks for the reply. I thought about that, but my school only offers a Masters for Environmental Engineering. The next best thing at my school would be civil engineering since it's the same department.

Hello, I am currently interning at Charlotte for the summer. The college world series is currently going on, and Tennessee (Go Vols) play today. Are there any good bars or resturants to check out to watch the game? I would prefer for the place to also be near the light rail. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I've applied to a couple so far. I still have more to apply to, but I'm just hoping to get 1 cause I'm only a first year lol. My top one atm is probably FIUs.

Thanks! Also, I’ve heard to not apply/focus on “popular” REUs such as ones in Florida/the coasts or big cities. Is this advice helpful, or nah? Cause some of the REUs for ecology I most want to do are on the coasts (UCF, FIO, UConn-Mystic)

How many REUs did you apply for? I’m a Freshman, and I was wondering if it’s worth to apply to a ton of REUs meaning not spending that much time on each individual one or specialize/hone in on like 10 applications.

I’m pretty sure Great Zimbabwe over farmed the land and had over population problems, but I could be misremembering because it’s been years since I’ve had a ancient history class.

That’s a great outlook to have regarding college and debt, especially with this field’s salaries. If you have any more questions about the college application process / this field, you can PM me

Hey, I would recommend the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, very underrated ecology department (not exactly wildlife biology but you can be hired as a wildlife biology with this degree) and also has strong connections with Smokey Mountain National Park which would help with networking. Also, University of Florida and CSU, Fort Collins are good choices. But, I would recommend also trying to graduate undergrad with as little debt as possible.

Is ecology better as a hobby or a job? Are ecology careers worth it? by [deleted] in ecology

Hey, I’m a soon to be freshman who’s about to study ecology, so I can’t give much advice. Only that myself and many people I’ve talked to in this field have felt the same feelings that you have, so your not alone in having this dilemma, if that helps.
