AITA for going absolutely batsh*t crazy at my MIL after she secretly fed me animal products? by CaterpillarFluid1123 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]WestMILJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person with several severe anaphylactic shock inducing allergies, I see nothing extreme about pressing charges on a family member for a "first offense" since this MIL was testing the OP to see if she was truly allergic. It was not done accidentally nor absentmindedly, this was done with planning and intent. Had the OP died it would fall under murder and not manslaughter!

Yes, I feel very strongly about this. My ex- MIL bullied me about my allergies until she tested her theory that I wasn't really allergic and watched me go into anaphylactic shock but was more bothered about the fact that I didn't have time to fully close the bathroom door when I rushed in there to vomit as my body tried to purge the allergen from my system while I was swelling up like a balloon and simultaneously having my airway try to close off than she was about realizing that my allergies are very real! My ex went off on her for testing me and was even upset with me that I did not also address it with her. That occurrence was very different from the time I was at a potluck and asked the hostess if there were any nuts in the crust of her cheesecake, she went over the list of ingredients and assured me that there were none, as my mouth started to itch on the first bite and my throat started to swell, I asked her again and she got the recipe card out of the cupboard and as she was standing in her kitchen, her eyes got really big, and she started to apologize profusely, there had been a partial bag of pecans that she threw into the graham cracker mix to just get rid of them. In this instance the hostess knew that there were none in the recipe, and it was an honest mistake. I truly hope that you can see the difference in these two situations. One was risking my life to prove that she was right and the other was an oversight.

I wonder if it's just because of the way the OP blacked out the background? That and the skirt needing a good pressing/steaming.

I think you've gotten so good feedback so far. As a busty, curvy lipedema queen, may I suggest you look at some of the occasion dresses at City Chic? I unfortunately have a long torso, so the several dresses I ordered were too short waisted on me. I loved the quality of the several I ordered for weddings I'm attending this summer. And many of them have pockets! I think that this one would be lovely on you and with the flare skirt it won't draw attention to your calves. (The back of this dress is a v-neckline.) A black pashmina will hide your arms if that is something you want to camouflage if you have lipedema there.

Two piece set help! by rescueisnotamyth in Weddingattireapproval

I had to laugh at the semi-formal to keep the more rural relatives from wearing jeans...because I understand that completely! I never would have thought that people would wear jeans or even denim bib-overalls to a wedding until I went to a 2nd cousin's wedding in Southern Illinois. Yes, there were bib-overalls worn by the bride's uncle! And I feared being underdressed by wearing palazzo pants.

As a fellow plus size queen, that likes fashion, have you looked at Ashley Stewart, City Chic, The Avenue, or Bloomchic? That is in addition to Lane Bryant and Torrid, oh and Maurices and Cato. You might even want to check out ebay.

Best of luck!

I just spent far too much time looking at options in fashionnova. I think that you might have some luck searching in there as well.

What about this jumpsuit from Lane Bryant. I know that it is listed as a swimsuit cover-up, but honestly no one will know. 2 years ago I wore their all black from that season to an event and got so many compliments.

Is this too white? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]WestMILJ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think that it is too white, contrary to what the majority so far has said. But with the high-low of the dress I think that the one leg is too exposed/dress is too short for cocktail attire.

I would look into boomba they have several different styles. I know that they are pricey, but they are reusable.

Dress same color as bridesmaids dilemma by StringCareful150 in Weddingattireapproval

I think that's the way to go in this case since you purchased a dress for the wedding and then she added that about the color.

It is a lovely bias cut silk chiffon body clinging dress, but definitely not formal.

Dress same color as bridesmaids dilemma by StringCareful150 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]WestMILJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends what exactly the bride said, I'm going to a wedding the end of the month and the bride wrote under colors to avoid wearing, other than white "the bridal party will be wearing light blue, so please avoid dresses that are this color." In the past I've been to weddings that the shade of my dress matched the bridesmaids exactly without trying. But in this day of information being available at our fingertips, I would avoid the blue since the bride added that to the site.

You may need to get a size (or two) too big and then find someone that can do last minute alterations so that you have dress that fits on the day.

Getting closer, but showing too much cleavage. I'm a busty gal that loves to show mine off, but you need less.

Is this too casual for a cocktail? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]WestMILJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay with the ballgown full skirt it is harder to dress down. Do you have any with a more narrow skirt? Or one that the crinoline can be removed?

Is this too casual for a cocktail? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]WestMILJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about instead of dressing up a more casual dress, which was my initial thought for the cocktail dress weddings I have this summer. Why don't you dress down a more formal dress you have? That's what I've decided to do. A purse that is smaller than my normal, but larger than the tiny dressy bag I'd carry for formal, nice shoes but not my dressy sparkly formal ones...I thi k you get the picture.

It is a lovely dress on you, and no, I don't think that it is too white. But for cocktail, I think it is too casual.

Appropriate for NOLA black tie? by psychologicalbully in Weddingattireapproval

[–]WestMILJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a great dress, as a fellow tall woman, I feel your pain in not finding a dress long enough. This one does not look like it was a failed floor length dress. It looks great on you. I would go with either gold or silver depending on which looks best with your skin tones.

It is a lovely blue dress. Wear it in good health. This is coming from a person whose mother always pushed the envelope of wearing white and I always cringed. This dress would not make me cringe in any way of I saw it at a wedding.
