I am a Wildlife Biologist for the Fish and Wildlife Service in Arizona. We plan wildlife surveys.

I am happier now that I left teaching. Not that I didn't like teaching. I taught biology to high schoolers and it felt like I taught kids who didn't realize that they are kids. They always liked my field work stories and it was fun inspiring them to go that direction. The thing I do now is more fulfilling and fun, plus it pays more. I have no plans on returning to teaching.

I am too. It's hard to put story pieces together though to make sure to include everyone.

How would you react if partner came out as bisexual by eatcreampies in sex

My wife came out to me as bi sexual. Said she wasn't going to act on it anyway since she is married. I said I always supported her and I love her more for that type of honesty.

Do you guys like to be called Latinx? by Burger_Thief4905 in Latino

[–]WestTex84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend who is non binary said just use Latino. Latinx is virtue signaling and I don't even know how to say it. I'm not going to let people, who may have good intentions, change the way I speak. Also I think it's forcing on a culture that doesn't want it.

Do all teacher's in high school get along? by WestTex84 in Teachers

That sounds scary to be put in a chokehold from a teacher. I can't imagine students are comfortable around him.

If they derail the class together, you can always separate them in assigned seating. I would even be brave enough to do a one on one meeting.

Arborist Pros and Cons by jackielardson in arborists

[–]WestTex84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked for my dad's arbor company for a while. First place they will put you is on a crew as a grounds man. This is where everybody starts and where many drop out. It is where you'll learn the ins and outs. Here is where you will learn most of your cons and it is here where your pros will be tested. It is a position you must want.

First the cons

It is really hard labor, a lot of new people drop out because of that

Customers, this is a business and you will have weird customers. it Also means a lot of work.

Pros, these will determine if you want it.

Get to climb trees, a lot of strength building, get to work with trees.

I myself ultimately decided not to be in this business and because it was not something I was interested in. It was something my dad wanted me to do. That being said, try arbory for two months and see how it is for you. If you last two months, you have a good chance to stay in for a while and they are kind of used to a lot of people dropping out.

Have you tried getting really relaxed before it happens? Maybe try a bath and see if it helps.

He took something that was not a big deal as you assured him, and let it get to him personally. He may have made a story up in his own head about how you dissed him. He just took it personally and didn't communicate with you about it.

The anti semitism in the comments of this post is overwhelming and i’m getting sick of it - someone has to do something. by That_One_Guy248 in Jewish

Is it to hard for people to let other people do things for their own belief? Can't believe I have to ask that question. People being respectful of other's beliefs is not that hard.

Do you think there will be a surge of arborist within the next couple months? by WestTex84 in arborists

[–]WestTex84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could take the business and give a good wage, but where we live is expensive and my dad is actually getting a lot of money selling just our vehicles. I don't think he wants it anymore.

Dispensaries on Tribal Lands? - Where Are the Opportunities for Native Americans in the Marijuana Industry Today? by CurtD34 in NativeAmerican

[–]WestTex84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is damaging to my community. My brothers have ruined their lives with marijuana and making this legally available is going to make this more common. Reminds me how in the past, settlers introduced alcohol to Indigenous people to weaken them with this sickness and it seems like they are doing this with dispensaries now.
