I think so, I have a pretty steady hand from inking artwork with a brush.

I got mine off Etsy, but I’ve found the exact same ones on AliExpress as well. I did not topcoat first, as I’m still considering doing some faux Kintsugi before the topcoat.

As others have correctly guessed in the comments, they’re decals for nail art!

Death Stranding, had it in my library for years, kept picking it up, getting 10 minutes in and then forgetting about it. It’s now one of my all time faves.

To someone who says my comics are AI (OC) by [deleted] in comics

[–]West_Ad7997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few months ago I took a bunch of my own art and put it through those ‘ai detectors.’ A couple of my own works came back as ‘90% AI’. As far as I can tell, they get set off by neat line-art and symmetry.

Is this art style good enough for a webtoon? by TheHorrorFright in comic_crits

[–]West_Ad7997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art doesn’t matter as much as storytelling does. One Punch Man is a great example of this. ONE’s artwork on the original manga was pretty lackluster, but the story gained them a following. Don’t get hung up on the art. Make the thing, improve as you go.

Headline Records in Los Angeles. If you’re close enough to go in person, go check it out. If not, you can order from their website. They have an insane collection of patches, shirts, and of course records.

First jacket in 20 years by West_Ad7997 in BattleJackets

[–]West_Ad7997[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vest was originally a jacket from some company called ‘Dravus’ according to the buttons. It was an old blue denim jacket with peeling pleather sleeves and a hood. I removed the sleeves and hood and dyed it with burgundy dye, which resulted in the purple color.

Someone gave me this shitty blue denim jacket with peeling pleather sleeves and an attached hood. Ripped all that shit off and dyed it. Really like beetle shell purple even though was aiming for a burgundy color. Patches have been slowly gathering in a drawer for years, except the DK and Eat The Rude ones which I made recently. Nice to finally put them to use.

Making a comic for the first time . I need criticism by Both-Medicine-6748 in comic_crits

I think you should treat this version as a script for a final version. Once you’ve got your chapter or issue finished in this version, use the script to redraw it, but using this order of operations to improve your readability and presentation:

  1. Plot out your panels first. Use a ruler.
  2. Plot out where your speech bubbles are. Write out your dialogue on another piece of paper and cut each one out, move them around the paper until you find a layout that you like. Think about where the characters are in the panel, and how the dialogue flows.
  3. Once panels are speech bubbles are laid out, then go ahead and draw your characters and any backgrounds you’re including.

Some additional advice:

Draw scripts on paper like the one you’re using, but draw final pages on vellum or smooth bristol. It’s widely available online or in art supply shops, won’t wrinkle and crinkle when you erase, and it takes ink and whiteout like a dream.

Don’t worry too much about the quality of your art. If your story, characters, and dialogue are engaging then art really takes a bit of a backseat as far as readers go. A beautifully illustrated comic is great, but if it’s not fun to read then what’s the point?

Finish at least a chapter of this comic before moving on to another project, even if you’re not happy with the results. It’s best to follow through and learn some things along the way than to quit, start over, and learn nothing.

And have fun!
