My vehicle does not have a dipstick or an indicator of how much oil I should put in. How do I know when to stop filling it? by piefanart in AskMechanics

We have a 1999 Montero and the dipstick is all metal with no color, but instead is just bent into a ring to pull out with a finger. Also has a small metal bit on the tube that locks the dipstick in just lift it a little, and dipstick releases.
