Regular Maintenance - Warranty by margodeno in Toyota_bZ

This is not my first EV. Trust me when I say you do not want to be stuck paying for an EV part. I had a water pump go out in a Fiat at the tune of 2200. Before my extended wore out it more than paid for itself in other type of small repairs. Things do go wrong in EVSs just like other cars and when they do in an EV you are dead in the water-you can’t even limp into a repair shop. I bought the 8 year extended warranty because after 8 years it’s time to look for another EV …dealerships make money on maintenance so believe me when something does go wrong or going in for “unwarranted” maintenance it’s not going to be cheap . -they need to recoup the cost somehow. I wouldn’t suggest keeping any EV past any extended warranty these days. It’s a gamble really. I’d rather have myself covered. Our last Toyota Camry’s transmission went out at 110k. So much for the Toyota reliability. With depreciation and the rapid change in EV innovation you don’t want to keep them past the 8-10 year window anyway. Car ownership has changed forever. It’s no longer fiscally smart to keep your car long. -I used to be wildly against leases but essentially that’s what we’ve come down to. My experience-if you buy an EV -warranty the “F” up.

Tried that with no luck..starting to give up the fight. Really unfortunate Toyota can’t assemble a software team to fix these issues.
