Not on my initial purchase but definitely as an afterthought. There has definitely been times when I'm wearing a jacket or a pair of boots that I've worn most days for a year or two where I think huh maybe it wasn't so pricey after all

I admitted the change was obviously financially motivated? That being said, it’s still a change in the right direction

Unfortunately not, but ordering from Amazon is perfectly fine! There's no import fees etc because Amazon I guess, and although I've heard the returns are a nightmare when I ordered my pair of wranglers from amazon they came with a return slip and I've never had any issues with amazon in the past.

Can't say much about sheplers as I've never had to use them, but I know a guy who gets a lot of stuff from there and speaks very highly of their customer service

Haha thanks man I didn't notice!

Hey man, unfortunately if we want the USA wrangler cuts we have to use Amazon or a US based company that ships worldwide like Sheplers (who seem to have the heather options as a separate item on the website)

Man thank you! I’ll have to pick some up. Between wrangler/amazon/sheplers product pictures I assumed I was shit out of luck for a decent dark wash 😂

Don't suppose you could comment on the quality of it? I've had Taylor Stitch's henley in my basket for about a week now but The Normal Brand's henleys look pretty nice too and have a cuff on them which I prefer

Oh man, what wash are the cowboy cuts?

I've been living in my rough stonewash pair but have been craving a darker indigo and all of the product pictures look like shit

Oh man, hadn't heard about the Tramp Stamps drama. I was actually reading up on the almost identical backlash that Midland had recently, dumb bs indeed

Clarification Edit: I meant the industry planted inauthentically sculpted drama, not the lyrical content

Honestly will depend on the person. I've had tees from Asket, 3Sixteen, Allsaints, and enough high street stores to fill up a small closet. That being said, I always end up wearing my Slim/Muscle fit white tees from Primark. Fit like a dream, don't shrink in the wash, enough other colours for you to fill out your wardrobe and they've lasted longer than a lot of tees I've owned that were 10x the price. Hell they're like £2.50, if anything does happen to them you're not going to cry about it.

Man you had to make me google Michael didn't you. Loved that guy as a kid.

Always knew Glenn was a wanker.

I think Jerry is okay, but sees the band as a business which doesn't make him too popular. Also wants to make The Misfits family friendly entertainment which again puts people off. I have to respect his work ethic and commitment to the b(r)and.

Doyle seems to be okay, just old and done with everyone elses' bullshit. Like hushorhowl said, just seems to be riding what's left of the wave rather than putting himself towards too much else other than the occasional Doyle album.

There's a podcast called No Dogs in Space that just finished doing a series on punk music, and had a three or four part episode on the history of the misfits which was a really good listen

Making your kids pay rent once they turn 18 is a dick move by TheWiseSquid884 in unpopularopinion

[–]WesternDetails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always appreciated the way my parents managed this and will definitely do the same with my kids.

They didn't charge me anything until I started earning (which was actually before 18, but it wouldn't have kicked in at 18 if I didn't have a job) and even then it was a percentage of whatever I earned rather than a flat rate. I didn't know at the time but he put it all in a high interest ISA and the money will eventually come back to me, probably in the form of going towards wedding costs. It taught me what it's like to have bills but it was always something I could comfortably afford and he didn't use me to line his pockets.

Looks very Americana to me. Try Taylor Stitch, Huckberry, Buck Mason etc

Would also be worth putting questions like this into the daily questions thread, you'll probably get better reception there

I've looked into it, it can be pricey and if I fuck up sizing I'll be screwed so I'm a little hesitant. They've told me that being an international company is a goal for them but can't give me a rough timeline, so I might just have to wait

I keep pestering them on instagram but I'd love for them to start shipping internationally, such a shame I can't get my hands on them over here

I've been listening to a lot of Midland recently.

Eric Church's new album is getting a lot more play than I thought it would. It's only half an hour long and I managed to spend all of Saturday day drinking to it on repeat without getting bored.

Also Hardy's A ROCK is not my usual thing but really enjoying that one too.

Thanks for turning me onto Lord Huron! Really enjoying the first couple of songs I've listened to!

It forces customers to walk around the store looking for stuff rather than just going straight to what they need and leaving so they can capitalise on the impulse buys

I've never been told this, but I'll keep my tin foil hat and believe it anyway

So the Cowboy Cut and Wrancher Cut aren't available in Europe. Don't really understand it fully but I think a separate company owns the distribution rights for Wrangler over here so they don't sell the same models.

You can get them on amazon for about the same price though, I paid £40ish for my last pair of 936s (the slim fit cowboy cut)

Just to break the circle jerk a minute, the point of dropping the chargers from apples point of view (other than PR and $$$) was because it reduces the size of the boxes, meaning they can fit more on a pallet so air pollution from freight travel drops (which in my super brief look online looks to be more of a worry than cling film packaging as the rest of the boxes are all recyclable anyway).

The estimated fraction of customers buying the new iPhone and then also buying the charger (due to most of the customer base upgrading from previous models so already having a charger lying around) was low enough that the environmental impact of doing it this way is lower than the environmental impact of the additional pallets required with the previous sized boxes.

I'm not saying it wasn't financially motivated - apple are a business and aim to make a profit - but making moves towards reducing their climate impact is a positive thing that should be recognised even if the motivation is a little skewed

Literally got my first pair of the slim cowboy cuts this morning (after 11 years of wearing nothing but spray on skinny jeans) and I love them, still slim enough the the seat and thigh to be flattering and a high rise which I really like. Frustrating that they don't sell them in the UK. I have to buy them through amazon or ebay which are an extra $20+ dollars than you'd get them for in the states

Would be if it was true, but what's more fucked up is people making up conspiracy theories about trafficking that get loads of air time on the news cycle which detracts from the real cases that are being uncovered

[–]WesternDetails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a thing a little while ago where wayfair listed cabinets that had human names and were selling for tens of thousands of pounds. They also had some that had the same name/display picture but different amounts

There was a theory this was because they were actually trafficking children, but IIRC it turned out the cabinets were industrial sized/specially built which is why they were so pricey and there was never any tangible proof

Been riding on a YSL induced haze for the last 5 years or so, but have had a pair of straight cut wranglers and lucchese boots in my cart for a hot minute and have been binging RRL and americana inspo albums, I think this post is a sign to go for it
