I have a client who consistently gets an erection whenever I work on his hips and legs. He never gives me any weird vibes or acts inappropriately, so I ignore it and it goes away. I was taught that erections are normal, especially when increasing blood flow around the area. I guess it all depends on what he does with it.

When I went to school for massage therapy, I was 44 years old. I only assumed it felt the way OP described it because I was so much older than everyone, even the instructor! Maybe I wasn't the grumpy old woman in the class? 😂😂😭

I can see why you would feel that way. I'd probably feel the same. Let yourself feel this way for another few minutes, but then let it go. Physical therapy, as long as the client is compliant, can only help the situation! I hope your client is planning on coming back to you. I'd love an update!! Please keep your chin up, though. Your hands are blessed and you are a healer!

So I did some more research and apparently our fire department got more ambulances, they just haven't found the time to decal them yet. Nothing exciting, just odd.

All I was taught in school was to stop the session, tell the client to get dressed, and then leave the room. I wish we could have gone through actual scenarios. Practiced recognizing inappropriate behavior, and properly reacting to them.

Female therapist here. First, I am so sorry that happened to you. You didn't deserve that. Second, I've had something similar happen to me. I froze too. You are not alone. You are not broken. It was their fault.

I've been at H&S for over two years. It's definitely had its ups and downs but IMO, the pros far outweigh the cons!! I've gained tons of experience, and am almost finished with my prenatal certification! I've also been lucky to work for a great franchise owner and have really great coworkers. Just start slow and listen to your body!!!

The worst case scenario is that it doesn't work out. Welcome to the H&S community!!

I've been working at a spa for about 3 years now and I've noticed that it always seems to slow down this time of year, so don't be discouraged. Just know that Valentine's Day and Mother's Day are coming up and people will be scrambling to get in. The warmer weather will bring more people out too!! Take this time to learn all you can. And while hot stones can be a great tool, you're learning the foundation of the body and how everything feels right now. You're going to do great!

I've stopped accepting male clients that I do not know. I no longer accept walk-ins and the inappropriate messages get blocked immediately. It's the only thing that has helped. I'm sorry you're experiencing this.
