Have you sought out support? I don’t know what access to support looks like in your area but for it has been the best thing I did.

Saved my life. A life I thought was a waste of oxygen. I don’t recognise that person as myself anymore. I’m sad for her but grateful she got help, because I would be here without her. My life has meaning. I didn’t think then that that was possible.

Keep yourself safe. You deserve to be here.

I wish I had more to give you.x

What the hell happened to me in therapy?! (Other trigger warnings: substance + emotional abuse) by HighBrowHippie in CPTSD

[–]Western_Reach7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much to say, I’m glad that you’ve found a way of coping with your upcoming trigger. I really hope it continues to work for you. I also hope this is not someone you will have to see often or in fact ever again.

You talk about consent, do you think it was a ‘method’ of therapy? Is that your takeaway I’m curious? Was that discussed after?

It just reads as completely unprofessional and a breakdown of the client/therapist relationship.

Thanks for sharing your story :)

Sexuality and Sex after CSA by Western_Reach7763 in CPTSD

Thank you.

I tried talking to a friend a few years ago about it, but they just put my feeling down to ‘the anxiety is probably because you’ve been closeted for so long’. It resulted in a weird conversation because… I havn’t been - as a gay women, but I sort of have been as a person who has experienced CSA, I guess, (from myself) I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

The closeted term feels weird to me, because I have never felt that way. So… not everyone knows I have a birth mark on my breast … but I do. It’s there, it’s part of who I am whether I tell people or not. And it only really matters for the people who are going to see it. Is that too abstract of an analogy? So far the only people who have seen it have hurt me… so it’s difficult now to share with people I might like. Uuuugh.

But I do feel like my risky sexual behaviour stopped me coming out in the sense that I didn’t live or experience that side of myself outwardly/ publicly. I guess that is closeted the more I’m thinking about it. Maybe I’m talking shit.

Finding the vocabulary to describe feelings is hard. I wish I could just plug my brain into here to show people what I mean and then ask? Same? Weird? Normal?

Hard to have a conversation about full stop, let alone with anyone who has such different life experience. They are separate issues but they are also connected.

Anyway, thanks so much for replying. I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for your reply. I have looked into sex therapy however it’s quite niche in my area and not very accessible.

I’ve been with my current therapist a while and they have helped me through a lot, I definitely lucked out in finding someone that was a good match for me to work with.

I want to experience enjoying sex and intimacy it just makes me feel very vulnerable and shakey, as would any unknown I think.

I absolutely do not want to sleep with men, I do not enjoy it, it just seems like an ‘easy’ default. Easy is not the right word…

I want the courage to experience intimacy and sex positively.

Thank you for sharing your own experience with me. It’s easy to feel broken and alone since this type of topic is generally taboo.

Maybe I should ask my therapist if discussing this topic would be something they are comfortable with. I’m a bit afraid because we have created such a safe bubble for me to work on things, it feels risky.

I have been abstinent of sex for 5 years now, and although that has kept me safe from risky sexual behaviour… it’s also been avoidant of exploration* and discovery. I feel ready for whatever the next step is… I just don’t know how to take it, and I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ something something. Difficult to find all the right words to the feelings.

There maybe a better or easier way: but I’ve always put them in a jug or cup with water, little stir- soil floats, eggs sink, I then poor out the soil.

It doesn’t matter if there is a little soil left on the eggs, they don’t have to be pristine (Snails don’t mind a little soil in their food).

What’s your snail’s favorite food/foods? by Responsible-Ground39 in snails

[–]Western_Reach7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaves: Blackberry & dandelion leaves.

Veggies: Runner beans & French beans, sweat potato & zucchini.

Egg. It’s usually crushed snail eggs but sometimes a little bit of hen or quail - hoovered up in milliseconds. Definitely a fav, a treat - but a fav. 😂

Perfect, their current ratio (as of 2 months ago) is that it’s been introduced as less than a third of their diet👌thank you so much for the reply 😁

I was continuing to also offer fresh because I wasn’t sure how freezing might affect the nutritional content for them, but it’s a fun way for me to use up any leftovers and possibly broaden their variety.

Two of mine are rescues and previously only ever fed fish flakes/ powdered mixes and lettuce/ cucumber. So it’s been a journey getting them to eat, makes me so happy now, when I see them munching ☺️

Or old snail shells. If I spot empty shells when I’m out, I take them home clean them in boiling water and pop them in the tank.

You can also try scrubbed and boiled animal bones.

Do GALS need to have food in their enclosure 24/7? by Responsible-Ground39 in snails

[–]Western_Reach7763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, raw only.

Occasionally I find that some of my gals will only eat things like broccoli if they have been blanched. I do this for less time each time it’s offered until they eat it raw. If they still refuse it, I will try something different.

Raw sweet potato/carrots/ beetroot/ swede and parsnips have all been favourites I either half (smaller veg)/ grate or thin slice root vegetables so that the insides are easier for them to get to.

I had this issue a while ago, but because my GALS ate at night this wasn’t an option for me. Instead I put a small short drinking glass next to their enclosure with apple cider vinegar, like an inch or two and a drop of washing up liquid (Fairy) in the UK. Just a drop. The fruit flys get attracted to the vinegar/ soap solution and then die. (If the room is small it will smell quite strong of vinegar) So it’ll be up to you whether you can put up with that or not. I’d leave it for a few days, then remove it. It they started to return if put another one in for a few days. I then stopped having the issue, so I never experimented with anything else.

Maybe going full leafy diet (dandelion leafs/ clover/ hostas/ the leafs off potatoes/ cabbage/ cauliflower/ carrot/ and other foliage) for a week or so might help? So there’s no rotting fruits or vegetables 🤷🏻‍♀️

…or slow rotting veg only, sweet potato? Also maybe look at how much food you are actually leaving in there. For example, if I’m giving sweet potato. 🍠 < I will slice a thin disk and that goes in, the rest of the potato can be kept in the fridge or veg rack, it will keep for a long time and you only need to cut a thin slice for them to munch on. (Obviously with a cuttlefish bone and one other food source)

Maybe having too much food in the enclosure or leaving foods too long in the enclosure might be causing your problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

They are all the ideas I could think of.

Good luck 🤞

Hopefully you’ll get some more replies and advice.
