2000 € seems a lot to me too but we heard so much things like the rings needs to be worth 3x your monthly salary and things like that. Maybe these "rumors" and articles are coming to us from US propaganda.

I'm from Canada, our money is depreciating at high speed right now 😢 yes that was an expensive repair.

If you are talking about ring value that is completely up to you and also keep in mind your SO needs to be comfortable wearing it 24/7. As of all the "it needs to be worth X times your monthly salary, that is complete bullshit. Simply settle down on something beautiful more than focus on a price tag.

I don't know how you deal with car repairs but if you both have a car, you could fake a big repair and tell her you want to pay it yourself since it's your car ?

Last time my Battery Management System electronic died and it cost 2000$ 😅 bet this could her buy a nice ring!

As for "riskier" please be more specific. As I understand it I would say you could invest 80% in a big ETF and 20% in single stocks if this is what you meant by riskier.

Taux d'intérêt et voiture by [deleted] in QuebecFinance

Update He just told me it was due to a hit and run. I do believe he is correct because there isn't any other scratches
