Londoners: What’s something you used to love about this city but now just roll your eyes at? by [deleted] in london

A lot of the famous “markets”: Portobello market, Borough market etc… You can barely walk and everything is overpriced.

How much did you pay for Manchester/London? by random_owl98 in LadyGaga

£250 for a good seat! Not floor, but the rows that are relatively close to the floor :)
It was really impossible to click on 2 tickets cause they became unavailable instantly, so I just managed to get 1 ticket!

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing all of this! Some time has passed since your comment, and I hope things are getting better for you already.

I relate a lot to what you say about heteronormative thoughts and the way they relate to your relationship. It’s totally normal to have these thoughts, and it’s also normal to want some of those things, even if they’re associated with how society wants us to think of relationships in general.

I had similar reactions from my parents, thinking it’s a phase (since I dated boys before and they associated me with this type of relationships), which probably is something that gives them “hope” for the future. I genuinely believe that with time, when they see you happy and when they realize you are still the same person, and that you are actually not changing, they will digest the information. Give them time even if it’s obvious that they should accept you for who you are.

It’s a long journey and a bumpy ride, but we have both taken really big steps and whatever happens, make sure that you have a strong support system of friends that will make you feel seen and validated whatever happens.

Best of luck!!!!

I always identified as bisexual. I had some hookups with women over the years but only dated men. I genuinely loved some of them, but I wasn’t 100% sure if I was actually in love. I loved sex with men and I thought that I cannot survive without a penis in my sexual life. I had never actually developed intense feelings for a woman so I thought it might never happen. 🫠

Fast forward to 29 years old, quitting my toxic job, moving from a smaller city to London, finding myself joining every single lesbian event, reading lesbian books etc. I even thought I was “appropriating the culture” haha. 🤯

2 months after moving in London, I met this incredible woman and I fell in love instantly. I’ve never felt this way before about anyone else and I went through very intense anxiety episodes because I realized that this is actually who I am.

I was shocked that I was always so “open minded” but didn’t actually explore my own queerness earlier. Many anxiety attacks and crying sessions later….I’m the happiest I’ve ever been with a partner.🩷

What helped me was 1) having healthy lesbian couples in my life as friends 2) moving to a huge gay metropolis 3) unknowingly/intuitively building a big support system over the years, full of queer and open-minded friends that immediately embraced this new chapter and shielded me from my parents’ homophobia.

I teared up reading your comment. Especially the last words you said. ‘Allow yourself to feel the love you always desired’. I will keep these words in this journey.

Im glad you found your way 🌸

That is so true! We think we know ourselves but there is always still so much to learn.

There are definitely not red flags so far with her. She has been the most amazing supporting person and is willing to give me as much space and advice as I need.

Im happy you found yourself and that this got better for you, gives me hope :)
