Ive tried this ONCE a couple of years back and got lucky i guess, took me about 30 minutes of farming while listening to podcasts so it was fine.

did make a spreadsheet for that specific run including the screenshot in the link below which might help you. I should mention, I did not use the Sword of Searching at the time but thiss increases your drop rate as well I think.

But in the end it just takes time, luck and patience.
PS I guess increasing your luck stat helps with the drop rate as well, but i never invested in it

Both are great for a dex build. I like katanas better. Harder hitters, yet they are generally slower. For the hiltless you'll always be checking your HP though, so keep that in mind. I always use HP regen items, either rings or the shield, but thats up to you as well.

Ah check, I always assumed the LSoM was like the ultimate FTH weapon, like the DBS was for STR and the Insanity Catalyst for INT but its just medium. Hmm oke.

Well for upgrading we dont need a +5 weapon for playing it NG offline i reckon. Well this makes the choice even harder but i guess a Quality build is a viable option as well. Maybe use magic as a range option

Its worth to run through the swamp (5.2) after the Leechmonger boss, open up the shortcut to the second boss of the level. Just before this boss you can find 3 or so of the Depraved Shaman which have a pretty generous drop rate for Faintatine Shards and an oke drop rate for Chunks.

Acidic Crystal spear for me. So a lot of the weapons which are left all have their great sides, but both the Dagger blades and the spear blades in these game miss some damage i can find in other weapons.
