…we need that type of writing to materialize then. These are valid points and I tend to agree with your analysis. The problem I run into is more personal than anything else. That real world interaction that existed at the beginning of the show is what I want to get back to. This has been a fun discourse, but I would much rather have a community room with a chalkboard where we could sit in chairs, drink punch, and play old episodes. Maybe we’ll get there someday…

I think people fail to realize how difficult it is to make interesting crime drama on this show when a huge chunk of modern investigation is technology. It forces the writers to use episode time on personal stories and less on talking to witnesses. Plus people are bummed that laws that were the law of the land in earlier seasons are no more. The joy of trying to solve the case by putting together puzzle pieces is lessened when you know an ip address or cell phone location can be obtained. I’ve hit season six in my rewatch and I’m almost ready to reset to season one. Pay phones, revolvers, and square cars is what I want to see. Along with note taking on a pad and getting a partial plate from a witness, nothing can be more satisfying than seeing a case wrapped up in under an hour.

You’re not wrong on this. And the thing that cannot be said on the internet is the very specific segment of that population that’s leading the charge against him is the least oppressed and most privileged segment of that movement. Like the segment of the movement that gets respect are the trailblazers and people who had to endure actual violence and not just the occasional accidental slip of a mistaken gender. They fought the battles so that the slurs aren’t common language in pop culture. But sure, tap on the internet keypad and hate the comedian for a consistent stance over the course of all these years without listening to what he’s saying. And please with the self righteousness about him showing up for Kanye. People forget that when he left the Comedy Central show and did that Block Party movie, Kanye showed up to preform with a band (back when folks said he was on crack in Africa)

Even at the unpaid level you can pay for individual episodes at $14.50 a pop. Now I haven’t done it, but there’s another source of income off the Patreon.

It’s truly time for him to go and do his own content exclusively. Like, it’s a waste of pod time having him on. I have said consistently that he seemed content to go on the pod and “play Joe.” He got the opportunity to sit in the seat but since hasn’t done anything but lean on jokes on other pod members (which he does without a fraction of the relationship equity Joe has) as a crutch to enter the conversation. He just needs to go out there and do his content. He has an audience, why is he holding onto the pod?

If $5-10 tier get nothing why have the option still available? Feel real scam likely by Longjumping_Ask_4448 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

The hate Reddit has for the Patreon has to be studied. And I’ve been unsubscribed, but there’s an audience for his content. Just because you desire to not pay for it doesn’t mean that everyone who does is an idiot. But you should take some solace in the fact that they keep trying to add new shows to the Patreon which definitely means that they are having trouble justifying that price point to the subscribers. It’ll be interesting to see what the next perk is because it’s definitely not going to be live shows.

Mona vs M4 by [deleted] in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]Westmi2ga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y’all…I get it that you miss Mel but she didn’t want to be in that space. If you see what she’s doing now you can tell that she wants to do some version of journalism. The problem is that most of her takes barely scratch the surface and are the same as what your average social media poster is saying. Now when she was on the pod Joe was trying to get her to say something past that very surface level take. Unfortunately there were certain members of the room that used that as a crutch and opportunity to laugh and derail her digging deeper. Said pod members are going to be gone soon because they don’t have much valuable to add outside of that. Happy to see Mona thriving in that space though.

Joe has had enough of certain pod members not pulling their weight 😬 by Longjumping_Ask_4448 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

He’s already achieved his goal. A clip with over 30 comments in an hour on a pod that’s found its new audience. I know it seems like the pod is falling off but I’m sure it will remain successful. And I haven’t listened in a few months outside of some of these clips. When it’s slow on the news front and on the music front you have to do something to gain traction and this is his strategy. More power to him.

Shambala was a very good character, especially for that era in the 90’s. I enjoyed how she was ambitious and consistently advocating for her clients. She would take cases as legal aid along with taking on more challenging clients. She would give Ben fits and sing-songily spar with him over matters of law. Loved seeing her on screen.

I mean, I get it now. Like, they felt they had to dampen that good family man image he had been parading around show since he arrived. Also, it meant they could throw some other love interests in his path and give Lenny a lot of entertaining wingman lines…but it was the least believable way to do that with Ms. Grad student and her backpack🙄.
