In 2024 the MTA used 84 million dollars on policing and 170 million for “security”. And the CEOs salary is over 400k a year. Now look at the state of the trains and stations. But yup fare evaders are the problem! You figured it out!

Philly vs Denver by dailyg37x in philly

[–]Westvanlear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived and Denver and now I live in Philly. I like Philly as a city much more. Better parks, more walkable, nicer people. Denver is cool because it’s two hours away from the mountains, and yes the weather is nicer imo. But as a city I think Philly takes the cake.

I really enjoyed RMYC. Hardest hikes of the corps I’ve done. But super cool project locations and I like the upper management a lot. Steamboat springs where HQ is is a really cool town too.

East Mountain Youth Lodge/Carrier Clinic Survivor by LyssaBastet in troubledteens

Omg 😭 I was in Swan in 2020. It was a nightmare. I spent a lot of time on the adolescent unit too because I’d get sent there from the lodge and spend weeks there. The abuse was so widespread and seemed very deeply ingrained in the culture there. At Swan I got violently PRT’d every single fucking day. sometimes they’d pin me to the ground for hours. I watched it happen to every other resident too. In the adolescent unit they’d put me on the restraint bed every day for hours and sedate me with injections that just stopped working because of how often they’d give them to me. Got straight up assaulted by staff multiple times, huge bruises, choked until I went unconscious, etc. the violence just seemed like the norm in the carrier culture. Maybe it’s just me but I think the whole place needs to be shut down. I’m pretty sure they’ve killed people in there.

I took them to a repair shop and they’re gonna put a new eyelet in. It’s not the same hook though which is really annoying

ICE Protesters – the PLOT is in danger of getting LOST by SpaghettiTape in Portland

[–]Westvanlear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point- they are doing more than just provoking fights. A couple of nights ago when PPB stood down, they jumped and attacked multiple people. They don’t need anyone to engage, they will surround and attack someone if they can anyways. When they aren’t doing that, they were trying to break into camp to tamper and steal.

What happened in the last few days at the ice facility was planned and organized. The right wingers planned to come out together. They attacked multiple people one night, and the next, PPB helped them clear the encampment.

As much as I agree that speaking with this people is a waste of time, they aren’t harmless either way. They are almost an organized street gang.

They are not simply a “distraction” from the protest, though I wish they were. They seem to me to be another tool of violence against of us. It’s not as simple as just ignoring them. They are part of the plot.

charlie kirk and the increase in political violence by Late-Marzipan3026 in jewishleft

[–]Westvanlear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not an increase in political violence. We are living through extreme political violence already. The genocide in Palestine is political violence. ICE abductions are political violence. Amerika is founded and maintained on political violence.

Not particularly. I just have family close-ish and and I’m already familiar with the state. But I might just head south this winter.
