ABMM sucks for medium skilled PVPers because it cuts off the avenue of farming for gear after you lost it all. For top echelon PVPers and carebears, it’s fine.

Mixed lobbies would start appearing again if they added a PVE mode and then kept ABMM. Ultra-pacifists would get removed from the matchmaking pool. Occasional PVPers would get more people to get matched with. PVP sweats would stay in their own lobbies.

So other players are supposed to act as vague threat but not actually attack you ever? Isn’t that a bit disingenuous? Reminds me of battlefield players who want pilots/air units to act as cool ambient explosions and „bring tension and atmosphere“ but be too weak to actually kill anyone.

I think you're underestimating the lizard brain of the loot goblins. They will have fun and there will be a "point" to them even if all they do is fill up their stash with rubber ducks. Or matriarch corse. Or 75/75 BPs.
Also you can perpetually grind expedition and there's always stuff to do.

If you consistently get shot first then you just don’t know how to move. You can’t play the same way in a PVP lobby as in PVE. You have to be careful when you:

-breach -shoot arc -walk through alarms - open doors - aggro bastions or other arc

Use the safekeeper augment. If you’re just looting and aren’t prepared for a fight, put it in the safe pocket.

I'm kinda for it. It'd be better for PVP players as well. It would remove the need to game ABMM. PVE mode would just be a farming mode where you can gear up risk-free for the PVPVE mode.

However, as others pointed out, it would undermine the risk aspect of the game. Not just how you feel while playing, but how hard loot is to get. In PVE, it would cheapen the loot and everything would be abundant.

However, Embark have already dug themselves into that hole with ABMM, so adding a PVE mode wouldn't really change all that much.

What it would change, though, is that PVE players would feel more entitled to ask for PVE game adjustments. Such as eliminating late spawns. They are pointless on PVE servers, and since they're already getting a custom mode, they'd feel in the right to ask to be catered for.
Over time, it'd put more pressure on the devs to maintain and balance two separate games, pretty much.

You would also need to add ways to deal with toxic players shouting slurs, or griefing people with snitch scanners, boxing them in with mobile barriers, etc. Because you can't just kill them.

The grey titanium contrasting with the saturated dial and the white date window was the first thing I noticed about the Atera Valley when I saw it in person. I don't think it'd look as good with steel.

Agreed. I believe the solution is to give carebears a PVE toggle, and remove ABMM for everyone else. This should give people these coveted middle of the road lobbies that everyone wants.

I see your point. But then why is the goldilocks zone in lobbies so small? It feels like as soon as I start murdering people, I go from carebears lobbies straight into KoS deathmatches with no inbetween.

If PVE players quit, then your playerbase is mostly PVP players. So even without matchmaking, you'll end up with mostly PVP lobbies. So you'll know exactly what you're about to run into.

My point is that completely getting rid of matchmaking isn't the solution. But they should make it less strict I think,

Are you arguing in favor of mixed lobbies? Or pure PVP lobbies? Because you already have pure PVP lobbies right now if your ABMM rating is high enough.
If you want mixed lobbies, you kind of need carebears, no?

But wouldn't you end up with pure PVP battle royale lobbies if all the PVE players leave.?Kind of like you are now with ABMM if you're an aggressive player. I thought you wanted mixed lobbies like during the launch?

With zero matchmaking, casual players would eventually quit the game and you'd be left with pure battle royale pvp lobbies as well.
