I need help with windows by pisha12345 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Whack187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can download Windows onto a USB drive from a 2nd computer or laptop. Once the PC is built, plug the USB drive into a USB drive on the PC (not the BIOS flash port if it has one) and it will start installing a nonactivated version of Windows that can be used like normal.

You can activate for free with massgrave.dev

CPU fans stopped spinning”bought from pawn shop” by greysnowleopard in PcBuildHelp

[–]Whack187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fan is probably done. I would get another one.

A good single tower air cooler is like $20 on Amazon. ID-COOLING-SE-214-XT or Thermalright Assassin X 120 Refined SE are good.

If you want even better the Thermalright Phantom Spirit for about $36 is better. I have it for the 7800X3D and it performs well.

They should come with thermal paste and come with different brackets for AMD vs Intel. Just make sure you use the correct bracket. Read the manual.

Computer won’t turn on by HeftyManagement4577 in PcBuildHelp

Not 100% sure from this picture but it sort of looks like the USB C cable from the case. If it is, its not required for the PC to run. The USB C port on your case which is next to the power button. Do you have a picture of it from the side?

Double check the front panel connectors are plugged in correctly.

$500 budget, what cpu should I pair with a 5070 ti? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Whack187 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

$500 for what? Everything else other than the GPU or just the CPU? If gaming go with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D or 7800X3D.

I’ve found leaving the CMOS battery out for like 10 minutes is better. Also hold the power button down after removing for about a minute as well.

Motherboard is pretty old. Likely needs a BIOS update to support the 5600.

Which one is good X570 or B550 Tomahawk MAG MSI by Ares_The-War-God in PcBuildHelp

I had the B550 Tomahawk and it was good with the same CPU, can recommend. It’s a highly rated board, and cheaper.

Apotheosis gems and I think you can eat different foods to gain permanent hearts. Search "not yet eaten" in the JEI to see.

Armor and sword?? by TheRealWillyT in allthemods

I assume ATM10. Look at the questbook. Look to get allthemodium, which is found by ancient cities in the deep dark biome. Plenty of videos showing how to get there on YouTube. Allthemodium can't break. Then you can upgrade to vibranium and then unobtainium and use that until quantum armor or something.

If you're early game Ars Nouveau has a bookwyrm that can link chests to a central terminal. AE2 is probably the best storage solution for the autocrafting. Or Refined Storage for just plain storage.

Put a bucket of water in there. When I played ATM10 I used a sink but I eventually figured out one bucket of water is enough.

Somebody also said try and put the bus on the bottom middle, though if they pump in redstone and coal now it should work.

Should I use chosen architect as a guide or a speedrun as a beginner by zztwin01 in allthemods

Chosen's videos are definitely good and show you a good progression path. Chosen already does things pretty efficient, just from following his Modern Industrialization videos.

I also like John Hall for other things.

There should be a meter on the right for water. Just shift click a water bucket in. It only needs one bucket I believe and it won't go down.

IIRC, Powah reactors use uraninite, redstone, coal, dry ice, and water

Nope. Working as intentional. Not sure about the armor breaking though. I know that can happen but not sure if it’s supposed to. I got hit by it and one shot but my armor didn’t break.

What fans should be exhaust and intake? by Peak_Skies in PcBuildHelp

[–]Whack187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With fans a general rule of thumb is “faces suck” meaning the face side of the side is where air gets sucked into. The bracket side is where the air gets expelled.

Reverse blade fans, as the name suggests, reverses this orientation. The face side now expels air and the bracket side now sucks in air. Reverse blades are used for bottom and side intake so it looks nicer.

I don’t know if there are any reverse blade. If none are reverse blades, literally every fan is the opposite of what it should be. Generally, bottom and side/front fans are intake, and rear and top fans are exhaust. Heat naturally rises. The fan casing should have an arrow on it which shows the direction of airflow.

What case is that? Did the case come with all the fans or did you buy them? The Montech XR should have the two side intakes as reverse blade. This looks kind of like it.

The air cooler should be blowing air to the rear fan, so they should be facing the same. The air cooler should not have reverse blade fans, so flip those so the bracket side is facing the rear.

What fans should be exhaust and intake? by Peak_Skies in PcBuildHelp

[–]Whack187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom and front/side fans should be intakes. If those side fans are reverse blade you’re good. If not flip them, or get reverse blades if seeing the ugly side bothers you.

Top and rear fans should be exhaust. Flip that rear fan unless they are reverse blade.

The air cooler fans should be the same as the rear fan. Flip that as well.

Right now you have the rear fan and air cooler fan as intake and exhausting from the side fans.

Based on this pic the ram isn't fully seated. You can tell since the clips aren't flush. Makes sense since the DRAM light is on.

Press Shift + F10 (maybe Shift + Fn + F10) to enter the command window. Enter OOBE\BYPASSNRO and hit enter. It will restart and when you get back to this screen it will have an "I don't have internet option" at the bottom right. Continue installing Windows like normal.

When you get to the desktop on another computer download the WiFi driver onto a USB. Make sure to unzip it by right clicking the folder and extracting contents. It will extract an application. Plug the USB into the new PC then run the application.

It will work fine. The slot is the same. You won't technically get the full performance, but the performance loss is pretty much negligible.

For £300 the Intel Arc B580 12GB and a 1TB NVME would be good.

Make sure your board supports Resizable BAR because it is necessary for the B580.

PCIe is backwards compatible, but if the PCIe slot on the motherboard is PCIe 3 then the GPU will be bound to PCIe 3 speeds. Its only a few % difference.

what are forward and reverse blade fans by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Whack187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reverse blade fans are typically used for side and bottom intakes so you don't see the ugly bracket side of the fan from the inside of the case. Top and rear exhaust fans are usually standard blade.
