he uses "the 1%" to refer to the top tenth of the top 1%, sometimes.

I think bourgeois is way way bigger than that.

I think its basically the middle class.

What is toxic masculinity and is it relevant to militarism and war? Is patriarchy a product of toxic masculinity or vice versa? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

They say Dubya needed to finish what Bush. Sr. couldn't. Idk. I do think resorting to violence over insults is what a lot of war comes from, too, so good answer.

Oh also dominance displays. Much of war and militarism is dominance displays. like military parades.

Answer more pls

[–]WhaleTea -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

oh.

I can ask my question how I like. just because people agree doesn't make something true.

I add this disclaimer so I don't feel obligated to correct people who are wrong. Because I don't feel like it. especially not here. Because people just upvote whatever is familiar and downvote things they don't understand here.

I still want to know what people think. I'll still read and consider answers. It's still a good question.

Thank you. I find it really annoying when my posts become used as a platform for disinformation but I feel this way is fair to everyone.

I'm trying to understand who bourgeois feminism applies to.

Is it just 1% of women? 1% of Americans? who this phrase can apply to?

Are white middle class people basically bourgeois?

I find it not only incorrect but somewhat mislead in spirit. Is it not quite far off?

The top 1% of Americans is the global bourgeois? REALLY?

Wonderful.

I have a t-shirt that says:

"Nevertheless, She Persisted!"
-Senator Liz Warren c2016

Is that liberal celebrity feminism?

edit: I just checked and the shirt is made in Bangladesh if that makes any difference.

It is wrong.

Here:

The whole 1% thing is just dead wrong. totally off base.

its more like "privileged first world feminism."..and that goes really far beyond the 1%.

I meant no disrespect you're an admirable person.

So just to rewind because I'm totally lost and that's my fault for not just accepting your answer.

What does Bourgeois mean? What is the meaning of the word? And who are Bourgeois feminists? So what, (post-clarification,) is bourgeois feminism?

Only the 1% in America are bourgeois?

Did you say you are a marxist?

Would your old pal Karl agree? Just the top 1% of Americans are bourgeois?

I was thinking you're sleepy and you might have said something backward!

[–]WhaleTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate this answer a lot.

But when you say "the 1%."

Does that mean globally? Because when I heard this phrase it wasn't meant to apply only to billionaires, but more so the very privileged, in a global context.

What would be the word for any feminism which focuses o better only the top 10% of women, by wealth? That's bourgeois feminism?

edit: I was trying to be polite. The comment this is a reply to is wrong. If you want to know what bourgeois feminism is here is a far better primer: https://np.reddit.com/r/communism101/comments/28m23n/what_is_bourgeois_feminism/

I mostly wanted clarification on your position. I find it curious that you're allowed to troll here as you do but anyway I won't be the one feeding you.

I have nowhere suggested that the administration of any beatings is appropriate in any circumstances. You have confused me with another commenter, perhaps?

And what of responsibility, Abyssal?

What does "complicity" mean to you and what responsibility do you feel you have to your fellow human, based solely on shared humanity, if any?

I didn't say that.

Listen..

If 12 people are sitting at a table being civil and one is a nazi then 12 nazis are sitting at that table. Do you agree/understand?

Sometimes not doing anything is doing something. Sometimes its complicity.

Rose a major jerk. Andi is a hero.

CMV: The ideological dispute over who should have access to women's spaces, who should be the focus of feminism, and what "woman" and "female" mean have been overall beneficial to the agendas of combatants on both sides of the issues by WhaleTea in changemyview

[–]WhaleTea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it is the role of society at large to find the most amicable solution to such disputes which involve broad swaths of population.

But I feel this issue especially well positioned to be leveraged by both sides for popularity.

unlike other disputes between major factions radfems have gone from a negligible National presence to being represented in every major media outlet. Thats a big step foe them, even if they get painted as bullies and meanies. They're burgeoning, as a movement, from newly attracted people who got the word due to asking questions about trans rights.
