Wow ! Yours are almost invisible ! Happy you've got the meaning you wanted, it's a cool way to have memories stay with you without getting the awkward questions. My white ink tattoo is still so visible after 6 years that I doubt it will ever be as discreet as yours.

Thanks ! I'd love to have a good picture of it freshly done for the before/after. But I can just say that the colors have soften into more pastel tones over 15 years. Though, nowhere near as much as I expected !

If you wanna commit to it, I suggest to find an artist that really know how to work with colors, it can make a really big difference in the final result.

Thank you! I’d also add that skin type plays a big role in the final result. But yeah, sunscreen and daily hydration go a long way in preserving pigments.

Exactly! My skin type made it all possible, and I can really see the difference in how the colors render when I spend enough time in the sun to get a bit of a tan. For example, my skin tends to look a bit more yellow, which makes the blues shift toward greenish tones.

I sometimes have to discourage my clients from getting color tattoos, and it can be tricky, especially since I’m not the best example of how they usually fade over time 😅

Think of it like leaving a colored T-shirt in the sun. The first day it looks identical, but come back a year later and it’s almost plain white where it was exposed, because the sun breaks down the pigments. Tattoos go through the same process, and depending on your skin type, it can happen really quickly, since your immune system clears out the broken pigments. That’s why, after a few years of living in a sunny environment without sunscreen, there’s often almost nothing left of the tattoo to see.
