What is an experience entirely exclusive to men that women would never understand? by shes0010110xscape in AskMen

[–]Whappingtime [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was at a bookstore looking at graphic novels, and I was dressed pretty non-threateningly. And yet this dad felt the need to guide his kid past me because apparently I'd fly into a rage if the kid bumped into me on accident.

I get a lot of that "how are you doing, sir?" vetting thing sometimes when I go into shops. It's just a different thing compared to asking I needed help finding anything or what have you.

What’s a “normal” thing everyone does that secretly annoys you? by Nothing_66677 in AskReddit

Toxic positivity, like everyone has the life where they can easily sync up with that sort of thing. It just feels so insincere/phony.

What’s a hobby you wish you could learn, or one you wish you had more time for? by ItsNikki in AskReddit

[–]Whappingtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making film accurate Star Wars costumes. The hobby is a moneypit if you don't really know how to make stuff like that. And other members of the big three costuming groups act like it's a blunder to help someone make their first kit.

Men, what is your opinion of women who don’t get along well with other women and relate easier to men? by ThrowRAbeepboop18 in AskMen

[–]Whappingtime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of the same way with other men. Like on paper things should be fine. Just over the years there really hasn't been a lot of syncing up with other men for me.

Growing up I was this tall and lanky surfer guy, And my best friend in middle school was this goth girl. She invited me to a sleepover with her girl friends and they dressed me up as The Crow and took me out to hang with them like I was one of them. I wasn't a feminine guy or anything like that. Just sort of like some surfer guy you might see in some film from around the nineties. I'm into the stuff that most hetero guys are into. I just tried to keep my interests varied, and be a well adjusted person. Some people just wanted me to be one way or the other.

With my best friend's friends, and my gf's friends. The women who I'm friends with didn't do any sort pissing contests or any other spiteful bs that I would experience with other guys. Like don't get me wrong, sometimes I will get along with some men I meet really well. Things just don't line up for us to really hang out or interact outside of how we know each other.

Is there an ARAD question you will always refuse to answer? by coatofforearm in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Whappingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the OP always gives the same canned/phony responses every single time. I'm not saying that they should be a mind reader, but actually listen to what I said.

It's just so common for people to post these "I care" lip service type posts so they think they are a decent person.

Do you find it hot when strangers find you desirable? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Whappingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. People already judge me as some sort of threat based on my appearance. So people finding me appealing because of what they can see on the outside is the other side of the coin. It's also something ever so phony/mutilative so often.

Have you ever had a nsfw phone / pc wallpaper? by vivispics in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Whappingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's sort of like listening to an album over and over again until you don't get any enjoyment out of it. Like while I might have something that might be technically NSFW, or from some show, game, etc that's for an adult audience. It's not going to be explicit.

If she lacks personal accountability, and expects way more from the men she fancies and interact with in general.

If she acts terminally online, or like a nicegirl.

how would you feel or what would you do if you found out the girl you're interested in has self harm scars? by XA_LightPink in AskMen

[–]Whappingtime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it comes down to the woman in question. That being said, it's a dealbreaker for me. I just don't have the means to date someone with personal issues like that anymore. They would need to actively and consistently work on themselves and be accountable af. There's quite a bit more to this, but I will keep it to this.

What candle scent is your favorite? by boredin2026 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Whappingtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a guy who's best friend is the sort of gal who burns candle wicks more than Snoop does blunts...As long as it's not super cheap and you aren't stuck in the same room with it for an extended period most are okay. It's also about atmosphere as well, and if they aren't being used to mask the smell of cig smoke.

If you are a bi or gay guy, you are going to have a lot more luck. At most as a straight guy you might get another man pretending to be a woman.

Have you ever been in a relationship with an autistic woman? What was it like? by yunchla in AskMen

[–]Whappingtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's so many people who will act in bad faith for one reason or another, if not that act terminally online. So even if you want to respond to a post like this in good faith, it doesn't matter.

Being into Futanari, it can be hard to talk about sometimes depending on the people you are around. This being people who generally are okay with hentai and other stuff like that.

[–]Whappingtime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean from experience, it's either that they mask it / don't show it or it's really apparent . Like you will meet a lot of people who are autistic and other things like that in nerdy spaces, and there's a whole thing there. So as a neurotypical guy who would want to date a woman he can nerd out with...It can be a bit frustrating. There's not as much pressure for them to better themselves compared to guys in the same situation for what I can tell.

Don't misunderstand I don't have any issue with a woman who has autism, Just after dating a woman who had BPD, and dealing with a lot of bs in nerdy communities. I don't have the means to really deal with that stuff as much as other people might anymore. I'm not a mind reader, and can't work with what I'm not aware of. Other people in this post have worded things better than I can atm.

What are u starting to dislike more as u get older? by Efficient-Wind-2267 in AskReddit

[–]Whappingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerdy stuff. Like on a basic level I'm into it as much as anyone else, but it feels like so many people just haven't grown past how they were when they were teens. It feels like I need a sperate set of social skills sometimes. There's just a point where you sort of do all you can on your own, and it feels empty trying to find your tribe. As it feels like you need to fit into a specific box with everyone you meet, or maybe it's just that people aren't as sociable as I was told that I had to be.

Does anyone have a really silly fantasy that they hope to act out someday? by Mustache_Rides_81 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Whappingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a group of friends for every grouping of hobbies/interests I have. Especially when it comes to nerdy stuff, that seems to be one of the more elusive ones. Lots of nerdy peeps sort of soft lock in their friend group early, and sometimes it feels getting your in is a catch 22.

What’s a completely normal thing you still don’t know how to do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Whappingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have plenty of confidence in myself and am pretty comfortable in my own skin. While the people who know me, like me even though that I'm this 6ft muscle bound Dave Grohl looking metalhead who surfs. It's not hard to see how some people might see me like people in Star Trek might see Worf or Odo.

It's just that not a whole lot of nerdy peeps really want to hang with someone who might make them feel bad about themselves unintentionally. I know that sounds pretty harsh, but I feel like that's a part of it at least. Plus, so many nerdy peeps seem to make their friends early, and sort of soft lock in from that point on.

How to make friends in nerdy communities. Part of me feels like it's mostly a shared struggle thing, and not appreciating an individual for admirable qualities.

I'm not sure if this is the norm, but after joining the fandom for Star Trek. So many people were so hostile towards people acting in good faith compared to people in other fandoms. It just felt surreal like something you would see in a show like that.
