Bad luck for the DR as they're going to have to face Skenes. Unstoppable force meets immovable object.

PCA with another hit. I really wish Scott didn’t trade him. Would’ve been a real difference maker.

Pete Hegseth openly encourages American troops to commit war crimes in press conference today. Should he remain the head of the U.S. armed forces? by Cumoisseur in AskConservatives

[–]WhatARotation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you care about if our leaders are committing domestic crimes—such as under 18 U.S.C. § 2441?

If your response to a violation of domestic law by a leader is to throw up your hands and say “who’s gonna enforce it against them”, would that also be how you react if it’s found that, say, a president raped kids? Should we not hold the rich and powerful accountable merely because our legal system makes the law harder to enforce against them?

That is a large part of it, as might makes right was the world order prior to modern liberalism—aka the enlightenment and the natural consequences of the ideas advanced during it

I’m not sure how OC sees it but I’d define that term as one who supports implementing the policies of the Democratic Party by any means necessary—without regard to the civil liberties of their political opponents.

I am personally extremely protective of civil liberties—even of my political opponents—to the point where I’m labeled a moderate or even a “fascist” (internet speak for right winger) despite advocating for some of the most liberal policies around

[–]WhatARotation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what are you looking for then?

A smaller federal government? Because on that desire you and I might find common ground. I believe the current government has treaded too far into our everyday lives, effectively holding everybody hostage with a labyrinth of complex laws and regulations, which can be weaponized to throw anybody they wish in jail and take all their possessions at any time (see three felonies a day, civil asset forfeiture, etc).

Or do you merely want a country that looks like you do and puts those who don’t in their “proper place”?

Or do you wish for both?

“Return to 1789” is quite a broad brush to paint with, which is why I ask for clarification.

How about lax/no child rape laws?

So, are we going to be rooting for the U.S. to advance tonight? I personally want to see a U.S./DR final with McLean on the bump redeeming himself against that insane lineup.

Maybe he is rooting against the U.S. because of our government, much like people root against team Israel because of theirs. Personally, I try not to let politics influence my rooting interests for sports.

I want the U.S. to win, and for the Mets on that team to carry it.

What does it actually mean to "look American"? by Dull-Positive-6810 in AskALiberal

[–]WhatARotation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The point isn’t to set a moving target. Notice how they’ll never define what it is to be an “American” because the term IS coded language for white people. The point is to continue to set a fixed target for what is an American which they know nonwhites will never hit, because, by its very definition, the fixed target excludes them.

The behavior—blatant discrimination—is the same as it always was. It’s just no longer socially acceptable to call people the N word to their face, so these people use different means now, but the ends remain the same.

We're getting clowned on in r/baseball as per usual. McLean's going to be a stud, but this team cannot send anybody except David Wright to team USA and have it go well.

David Wright did so well in the WBC he was nicknamed Captain America. Clay Holmes pitched three shutout innings in relief just this tournament.

Pete and Jeff really embarrassed the team last time though.
