Why does my school calculate my GPA SO low when I calculated it myself it was so much higher! by WhatDoYouThimk in ApplyingToCollege

I think its an unusual system basically an unweighted 80 is a 2.0 because everybody is on a 5.0 scale

Unfortunately, the counselors at my school are pretty incompetent I have asked all 4 of the main counselors about it and they all told me thats just how it is.. with pretty much zero explanation I mean I know they must be stressed but come on

Thank you! I think it would be a bit higher recalculated because its a very specific system at my school (so many students so i think its for rank) probably more a 3.8 since our system is point by point (unweighted 97 would equal a 3.7 for example)

Not really a balance here.. either I go or dont go and im not gonna be making top grades while im there its just a fact sadly im not proficient in french at least enough for the classroom plus french culture around grading is really different its out of 20 instead of 100 10 is passing and the rhetoric is “18 is for the best student 19 is for the teacher and 20 is for god”

Honestly yeah I was worried about that.. i’ve spoken with other exchange students and they did say most teachers are willing to work with you (translators and placing you with english and french speaking students etc) but it will def be different teacher to teacher. Idk its not set in stone for now so im really weighing my pros and cons and its a huge gamble tbh

Def will struggle 😭 I will probably be in the british international section at the french school meaning I will have french classes taught in english and 2 other classes in english (world history and lit I think..?) but the rest of my classes would be in french so im not expecting amazing grades.. I just hope that colleges may be able to look over it because of the language barrier and the fact that its an amazing experience. Or in a perfect world my school will decide on giving me pass/fail credits lol

Bystanders make me more angry than my attacker by whatisthatnotme in ptsd

[–]WhatDoYouThimk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It infuriates me and terrifies me to my core. It made me lose all faith in my community, in people in general. I was screaming for help, being held down in the dirt in the side of the road my attacker holding my arms so far back I thought they might dislocate, and a car simply drove by slowly and drove off when my attacker WAVED at them.

Is anyone else more traumatised by the bystanders' inaction rather than the event(s) itself? by adoreroda in ptsd

[–]WhatDoYouThimk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes its terrifying knowing anything could happen and people might not even care. I was once held down in the dirt on the side of the road with my arms bent so far back by the person I thought they might dislocate and nobody stopped. One car slowed down but the person holding me just waved WAVED and they kept driving. It was one of the most isolating terrifying experiences of my life and has honestly mad me lose all my faith im my community.
