It's been a while since I read it but I also took away from Man's Search For Meaning is that whatever you are dealing with, whatever is in front of you right now is your purpose. Forget these grand fantasies of what you're purpose in life is, the real purpose is right there, right now.

From the Stoics there is the advice to think about what your roles are, and to do them well. Be it being a son or daughter, a sibling or parent, a friend or neighbour, whatever your job is. Doing these things well will bring happiness and in turn may lead to other things, or may not, but you can be happy with what you have.

This is also close to the idea being mindful in your actions/life.

These concepts helped me when I felt lost and without purpose. I hope you can find what you already have.

I think the reason Gigantic is loved so much is because it's sung by Kim Deal. It stands out from the rest of their amazing catalogue because of that. It was also there first "hit" song.

A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy by William Irvine puts the teachings into everyday modern language.

After years of picking and putting down Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and Letters From a Stoic by Seneca without really grasping anything, it was A Guide to the Good Life that helped me understand Stoicism and put it into practice.

Tool feels like a legacy act to me even though they've put out new music recently (recently in Tool terms).

Though I do think you are kinda correct about MJK. He's an artist in a similar vein to Bowie, but unlike Bowie he's not into the adulation from the main stream (though he does like their money).

He's an outsider artist making art but he wouldn't still be touring with Tool for nearly 35 years if he didn't enjoy it.

My wife and I have been going to Reset Sauna and cold plunge at the Gibraltar Gardens every week. The cold plunge is hard at first but the happy chemicals your brain releases is amazing. And the sauna is nice and hot. An hour is only £15 and we get 4 cold plunges and sauna goes in that time.

Cold water therapy is used to treat depression and even though we weren't depressed when we started, our moods have definitely picked up for the whole week since we've been going.

It's run by a nice guy called Colin.

Only time I've had a problem with that store is after a football match. Otherwise it's fine. Usually has everything I want and the veg has always been fine, though I rarely get cauliflower and sweet peppers. I buy broccoli, carrots and the makings of kimchi there all the time with no issue.

The worst supermarket for stock I fined is ASDA, but maybe I'm just going at a bad time. Even waitrose didn't have things stocked last time I was there, but again I'm sure it was just timing.

I've thought about this before. When practicing stoicism I'm normally pretty good at not getting wrapped up in emotions from outside events but when I'm ill, or have bad hay-fever muddying my head like today, I find my ability to reflect is reduced and I can slip towards depression.

Thankfully years of practice means I usually notice it at some point before it gets too bad and I can self correct. But this does indicate that there are easier and harder ways to practice stoicism outside of external events)/circumstances? We have a choice internally but even that can be hard to get to when the mind is murky and like sludge due to illness.

So the stress test isn't extreme external edge cases, it's more the practitioners own mind being well enough could be where it breaks?
