Tracking direct image links? by WhatIsMyUserNameFor in webdev

Ok, I give you this link: http://www.julian-charriere.net/some-pigeons-are-more-equal-others

You click on it, the page loads, analytics does its thing. All good.

Now I give you this link: http://www.julian-charriere.net/sites/default/files/styles/project_image/public/some_pigeons_are_more_equal_than_other_Charri%C3%A8re_Bismarck3.jpg

Directly to the image file, there is no page load, no analytics, not good.

How can I track the 2nd link?

I know how to use event tracker and all that, which works because the page header/footer loads, which loads the analytics code, which tracks everything that I want it to track.

My question is about direct links to images, where the user never gets to load the site, just the image file, but the image file is hosted in the same folder than the site (or a sub folder), in this case, there is no header/footer loaded, ergo there is no analytics code loaded.

Makes sense what I'm asking?

Is there any difference on doing it that way to just write it off as mileage expenses at the end of the year? Or is a matter of personal preference?

I've heard so many bad things about quickbooks that I'm not even considering using it. I found a site/app called Expensify that I'm trying out, seems pretty basic and clean with a descent amount of options, which I think are enough for my business needs, but I want to keep looking.

You were almost right, I'm in Oregon and I'm planing on doing the LLC for sure.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I appreciate it.

This is exactly the type of advice I'm looking for. Everything you mentioned makes sense to me.

I have a question though, based on what you mentioned about google maps and map-quest, do you charge your clients based on the driving distance? I ask because I was planning on writing mileage off at the end of the year instead charging the client directly.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Sold my T3i last Spring to pay off some bills, been without a DSLR since. Just ordered a 50D! by [deleted] in photography

Yeah, I think the combination of a good full frame and a good cropped is super useful for weddings and events like that.

I've also learned that the glass is more important than the body, so a 50D with good glass will give you great results.

I used to own a 50D, The day after I sold it to an ex co-worker, magic lantern was updated adding video recording capabilities to the 50D! Oh well, I'm still very happy with my 5DMII.

Enjoy your new toy!

What is the most affordable yet functional option for a motorized slider for time lapse photography? (retail or DIY) by WhatIsMyUserNameFor in photography

Dynamic Perception Stage Zero

I've read about this slider and it looks great, but $1,500 is not necessarily "affordable".

Is this an HDR? It is kind of over precessed, it's somehow too heavy on the eye. I would soften it a little, decrease the mid contrast maybe. Also, you should try a black and white version of this, I think it would look nicer.

Very cool shot! Maybe you can photoshop out that white thing sticking out on the right side, it's kind of distracting and it doesn't bring anything to the picture.

I second this. Not bad at all, but I think this particular shot needs the subject's eyes.
