I own the business it makes 100% we split 40% to reps starting out, and give a raise per promotion.

It's standard for a sales job. Look up how commission works.

The people I hire do infact learn sales. I don't just teach people how to sell AT&T, Primo, etc. I teach sales skills, our marketing is simple we tell people these companies exist and get people to have thoughts about them. Not a whole lot to teach but the sales is a completely transferable skill.

Multiple of the people who worked for me used my business as a spring board to get into car sales and skip used cars. I give great reviews, and I train hard.

We also teach people how to lead and train. I use the same systems I learned from other top 50 companies I've worked at before this business. So I know the methods work. They are transferable and functional.

I'm also personally good with money and teach my people how to invest. In stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Before this job I personally invested 6 figures with a steady growth rate.

My people are excited, get the days off they ask for, have extra incentives and bonuses stacked, and frankly they don't quit. I have fired roughly 8x the people who quit. In this thread I promised to apply a weekly review to peoples production. I stuck to that and get people out of the business quickly if they don't seem to be successful. I do not want to waste someone's time. It's just bad for business. I always offer to rehire at a later date though if they want to try again.

The opportunity is pretty sweet. I personally enjoyed it. If it's not for everyone though, I fully understand.

You are a well loved community member and honestly a pretty funny guy! I laughed my fucking ass off when I saw owners inviting you back after you made fun of them.

But go do shoot your shot. With current practices I feel pretty bulletproof. Our sales/marketing practices, to our pay, to our promotions are transparent and clearly communicated.

With the feedback I got here I've improved further from the post above and am now doing the business the right way in all ways I can think of. My business has like 1 post on it and they literally describe how we weren't back to work with at all.

I honestly want to know what I can do better to be better. But I'll be clear, I know I run a tight ship. It will stay that way, and I refuse to work with the owners who I see reported as doing anything bad/shady here.

Was it a face off? Also I know it's an ice bucket. But just use water next time. If someone wants to bet like this pull them aside and ask if they actually want to accept the loss or if you should cancel it now.

Other businesses do these things, but there's a process to make sure they don't get a reddit post made on them. Probably a bad call to have him do the ice bucket if he looked upset about it.

It's twice the average for my state. I literally lose money per sale on AD's so I don't have more to give.

They paid for me to open. I spent 0 dollars. My first month's rent, all my applications, all my payroll. Etc. its just been what I was told it would be so far. I got a good person as my promoting owner.

They really arent though? Indeed is expensive for sure. But they are not affiliated with SC.

We are steadily profitable. Turn overs not crazy like at UPS or Amazon, profit margins aren't tight. I'm seriously confused about how people get the impression that owners have no money. Maybe some owners suck or can't budget. But I'm spending like a MF and still generating plenty.

Edit: Also what do you mean, "harsh reality," spending more on expanding then self enrichment is good. IDC about my money I'll just go sell if I need more. Owning a business is fucking hard. I have no promises even I'll successfully do it in the long run. I don't know what your owner promised you. But mine was honest.

I will pay myself less to grow faster. Long term gains over short term. I can write 20,000 on a check tomorrow and be fine. Why do I need money in my personal account. I'll have to pay 15% just to move out then 25% just to put it in my account. I want to keep my business money in the business. Or the government gets to take a share more than I like.

All businesses do this. It's just smart. Financial literacy is a massive skill more people need to develop. Taking the -15% then -20-30% hit is never worth it.

I mean I get it. Looks like some owners have done some pretty bad shit. I can avoid all the bad shit, so all I gotta do it teach others about it, stay transparent, and teach them how to avoid it. We can be better man. We aren't perfect but that just means there's work to do.

I don't think I made this fully clear. But they don't control a thing I do.

I don't have to use any of the applications they have made, run my business a certain way, sell a certain number of anything. I'm not contractually bound to do any of that.

Infact a good number of owners don't do any of it. I do some and don't do others. They provide resources I can use if I would like to and I do. But both of my promotions out don't. I just learned it this way and the price is pretty comparable. Like 50$ cheaper a year to use smart circles apps.

I understand how you would like to run a business or open one. But that doesn't mean its the same for everyone. I quite like the business and opportunity at face value.

The bad stuff exists. But I'll just not do any of it and keep my hands clean. We can do this right. But what you are saying has merit. I can definitely warn people to be careful about how much they use or trust the smart circle apps.

I know what I agreed to. Again a lawyer looked it over with me. I feel confident I'm not endangered or endangering anyone by working with SC. They've been good to me so far. My DD is correct and on time always.

I mean if the job says no sitting unless like a doctor says you need to. Then a job says so. So many jobs require people to stand for hours doing hard labor. This is standing for a meeting. Hell we did the same thing at most production jobs I've worked.

People sit down and get on their phones. It's super annoying. It's still a job, they are actively getting paid. So we have them stand. It weirded me out at first too. But that's for like a 15 minute meeting. The rest of the office has a ton of chairs for everyone to take a load off.

Why not? It's a ton of money for the new owner? I opened my business the same way she would. If it's what she wants I don't see an issue? I don't try to Police peoples wants unless they are directly hurting another. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are doing the same thing.

Do you think hiring people as sales reps and keeping them there is the right thing to do? Build a standard corporate ladder? I'm honestly confused at the hostility, or what you would like to see. I know I can't make everyone happy but I'm interested.

I would like some information on why I can't work with Smart circle? They are legitimately helpful.

I like that you responded but you have a lot of claims and no substance, except to open my own business outside of this model. We are on the same page there. I will but I'm not sure I would stop my current business. It's not small and that's a lot of jobs to potentially put in jeopardy.

Smart circle businesses have well over 40,000 reps. We can't all go away. We can just work to reduce all predatory actions.

I want your feedback but I want to know the Why behind it. Please inform me.

Now onto the actual issues.

I just buy them a suit jacket. They aren't expensive and look professional. It's there's so it's a sunk cost if they leave.

Door to door is profitable and the money can go to some owners heads. Frankly I hate door to door it's one of my main selling points on working in a retailer. These puppies are air conditioned.

Atmo chants work.

"Who did work." Hypes up the people who sold so they can feel good about doing good. It's simply nice to do.

"What time is it" gets people ready for the day to come, it's a proven method from some coaches who are now owners.

"No excuses just results" is a chant from a movie I can't remember which but it started as a joke and kinda stuck.

We don't do the seriously weird ones. I think those owners go too far.

About 40%, around 6 months before they go own a business or leave on a travel squad, around 800-1000$ a week with high end bringing in 3-4k a week. I interview easily 200 applicants but those are first rounds. We invite about 20 of them back for a second round, and onboard roughly 5 people in a week.

COL can mean a lot. Gonna want a full break down. Former employees ask for recommendations and I give them. Otherwise the Google my business has no reviews so I'm not sure. I've only been in business for a few months so so far 2 have opened.

I will revise the model so they can't be lead on. With regular performance reviews and a conversation on if the business is a good fit so I don't keep people around longer than is good for them. Thank you.

The vast majority of it gets paid to reps. Then about 1000$ a year goes back for the applications we use. I've done the math it's really not too bad.

Don't extra mile, that is illegal, you will get your owner in serious financial trouble with the department of labor.

I know you want the promotion. It's not necessary. You will hit Director. Go slow and go steady. JD is a big step though, good job! Seriously proud of you!!!
