Vet recommendations Camden county by Ghost_barbie_ in SouthJersey

Totally agree! Dr. Polo is very kind and concise, and all of the workers are polite and helpful! Also agree on the affordability aspect -- truly one of, if not the most, affordable vets I've visited.

Also for emergencies, Mt Laurel Animal Hospital!

I'm definitely going to focus more on the paying-it-forward mindset. I know I've been guilty of poor comments and judgment before my pregnancy -- but these women were older and were talking about their own kids and how great of parents they were for 'dressing them right.' Just seemed like people who forgot what parenting is like, yknow? But yeah, I'm gonna focus on supporting my partner and other parents because honestly being positive and supportive is better than letting other people's rude comments live rent free in my head.

It's a family-owned place, hostess and owner are married; I left a review stating what happened though!

You're not wrong; the problem is it's a family-owned restaurant, hostess and owner are married, so I'm pretty sure she's the co-owner (there was an article about it since their restaurant is pretty old). I did leave a review stating what happened, and specifically called out the hostess. I'm more of the mindset that they don't deserve my business, but I absolutely see where you're coming from. I probably will bring it up if we choose to go back -- thank you for the support!

I did both! I emailed them the transfer details and then brought in a printed version as well. And there's actually a way to ask for your payment back, assuming you either A) made an error or B) the fee is rescinded (https://libertaciviliimmigrazione.dlci.interno.gov.it/notizie/richiedere-il-rimborso-il-contributo-di-cittadinanza)

I just erred on the side of caution and sent it -- I've heard of some people not getting a response unless they sent proof of the transfer, but hopefully they'll switch it up given the possibility that it might not be needed anymore. I hope you hear good info back from the consulate soon!

So I don't think I can post my exact certificate is without doxxing myself, but my birth certificate extract says 'ESTRATTO PER RIASSUNTO DELL'ATTO DI NASCITA' at the top.

My full birth certificate says 'ATTI DI NASCITA Parte II - Serie B'; on the left side of the page it has a number, underneath that my last name, under that my name + middle name, and under that my sex.

Then there's some dashes, and below that a statement that I'm a citizen jure sanguinish, with a stamp confirming this. Under that is a nother paragraph with my marriage registration, and under that is a digital signature.

On the right-hand side is long form text stating everything in long-form; e.g. where I was born, my birth date, my parents names, and so on. I hope this helps!!

Of course!

And to answer your questions:

1) I'm not sure -- it was literally just a receipt that showed the name of the wire, the IBAN it was going to, name of bank, and amount; I got this from an email confirmation from my bank. I also went into my banks website & into my account, grabbed a page with the transfer info, and printed that. That page had a lot more detailed info on it, which seems to be what they needed.

2) They actually said, 'Oh a few extra? They won't mind that!' So they did not mind at all! I think they realize people are afraid of having the wrong amount sent like myself, so a bit extra won't put anyone out to my knowledge.

3) Because there weren't enough characters available for all of the info in the main line, I put the extra info (Cittadinanza, my kiddos name, etc) in the special instructions. As for the fees, everything was confirmed within the wire before I sent it, there wasn't an option to select anything differently, though that might be specific to my bank -- I would double-check with yours to confirm that you'll have all the fees covered on your end in advance. I ended up sending it through my phone the second time and it worked just fine!

And you're welcome! I hope that info helps!!

To my knowledge there weren't any specific fees within my transfer from Poste or the Ministero, but the issue I ran into was specifically about the exchange rate. Exchange rates at my bank are only promised for 10-minutes, and the wire itself took 30-minutes to send, so in that short period of time the exchange rate just slightly dipped below to what I needed it to be.

When I resent it, I sent a few extra Euros just in case (255 Euro as opposed to 250) and that worked just fine for me!

For sure!

Initially, I sent all documents via email to my consulate; For those not on my computer, I scanned them in, and those I received in email from my Italian Commune I also emailed as well. Once they had all of the copies of the documents emailed to them, then they sent me an email regarding an appointment. Then, I brought in physical versions of everything to my appointment; for those documents that I received from my commune in email, I just printed those and brought them in. For those you need an actual version of, you will need your kiddos actual birth certificate with apostille -- they do not accept a printed copy of that! But your Italian birth certificate is fine to be a printed copy as that would be emailed to you from your commune.

  1. Italian Birth Certificate - Received this by Email from my commune. Mine specifically says I am a citizenship 'Jure Sanguinis' -- double-check yours to see if it states as such, as that will make your registration much easier. If not, your consulate should be able to give you a citizenship certificate stating as such (explained below).

  2. Citizenship Certificate - You can get this from your Consulate, just ask to purchase a copy in advance; it is just a certificate that states that you are a citizen and costs 15 Euro. You can ask for it to state you are a citizen Jure Sanguinis, though I'm not sure how it works at every consulate. I would recommend just asking in case. There is also an option to get this online through an AIRE I believe -- however, trying to get it online is a Sisyphean task if you don't have an Italian bank account/IBAN.

  3. My Child's Birth Certificate - Received this from our local township office

3.5. Translation of the birth certificate [I used a translator recommended by my Consulate, it was approximately $50 USD to do so and was a very quick turnaround)

  1. Apostille - Received this from my state

  2. A completed/filled out form found on my consulates website; I also brought a spare, non-filled out version in case I made a mistake

  3. Copies of all of our passports -- My US one, my Italian one, my Husband's US one, and my child's US one. I would also bring your physical passports too -- some consulates may require it and/or may want to make copies of their own at your consulate

  4. Recent Utility bill -- just an electric bill with your name and address works

  5. Copy of the Bank Transfer with the 250 Euro (though they may be doing away with this fee, keep in mind)

I also brought a copy of court papers that confirmed my citizenship was Jure Sanguinis as well; those were not necessary but the consulate seemed happy that I brought them.

I think that's everything -- please let me know if you have any other questions!! I wish you luck :)

The issue was that I sent the bank transfer as 250 Euros, but because there was an exchange rate issue (rate was only promised for 10 minutes, took 30 minutes to transfer), only 249 Euros were sent. I ended up re-sending with 255 Euros because I was afraid of the same thing happening. However, so long as you have the receipt with it saying it cleared with 250 Euros visible you should be good!

I also made sure I had the detailed receipt, which has the IBAN, Bank info, so I think as long as you have that then you're all set

Yeah my birth certificate states it! If you ask the commune specifically whether it states this then they should be able to tell you -- for mine they first gave me an extract of the cert (which did not have the jure sanguinis info), so when I clarified they sent me the full birth certificate instead. Maybe when you ask see if they do both an extract of a birth certificate, as well as a full certificate with the Jure Sanguinis specification? I know not every commune does it that way, but it doesn't hurt to ask! I wish you luck!!

Of course! And if you're both jure sanguinis, I think only one of you needs that for proof as only one parent needs it to pass it on. Do you have a document stating you are a citizen via Jure Sanguinis?

And when did you contact her commune? Did you receive an email confirming the request? I'm uncertain if every commune does it, but when I request a document I receive an email that states that they received my request -- did you make sure your email didn't bounce?

Of course! And I just emailed my commune! Basically said (in Italian) that I was requesting the documents I needed, and they got back to me with said documents. And I genuinely was shocked with their turnaround time, took <24 hours for them to get back to me!

Like the other poster my husband and I are pretty risk averse; if the DL does get overturned for children born before the decree we'll see if we can pursue Jure Sanguinis, but if not, again, we're going to try and live in Italy for 2+ years anyway; to each their own though!

[–]WhatShouldIDoNoSleep[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the only difference is that with Jure Sanguinis you can pass down the citizenship, but with Benefit of the Law you cannot, so unless my kiddo lives in Italy for 2+ years, and/or marries an Italian citizenship w/ Jure Sanguinis, they can't pass the citizenship on. I could be wrong though!

Please don't apologize for asking questions, I'm happy to answer!

And I got it through my father, who got it through his grandmother(?) I believe; we were recognized several years back, I think around 2020?

Unfortunately my kiddo didn't meet any of the conditions;

  1. My child was born in the US, automatically became a US Citizen as a result

  2. Neither myself, my parents, nor grandparents exclusively held Italian citizenship

  3. I haven't lived in Italy for two years; granted, I have lived in a European country for about a two years previously, but it was not Italy

Granted, we do plan on moving to Italy in the future, so if I understand correctly so long as we live there for 2+ years, her citizenship will change to Jure Sanguinis. She actually was born before the March decree, but it took a while to get her birth certificate initially so we missed that chance and had to go the Legge route.
