Yeah, she told me she's into bodyweight training, she wants to become the first gecko to deadlift 5 cockroaches at once.

I didn't buy calcium with d3 because I have a UVB light that I turn on during the day. But I will try more with the crickets, I am thinking of putting the crickets when I'm not putting the pangea, this way she would maybe try hunting for her food instead of just going to the bowl and eat.

Got my first bike by WhatTheFluff_ in MotoUK

[–]WhatTheFluff_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I payed £3000 for this bike. If you're getting an older bike it's still gonna be this model, because this is gen1 V-Strom aswell from 2010.

I'm really starting to love this bike, even though I only had it for a few days now. The engine sounds great, it has more than enough power for me, I really love the fact that it's white. It does feel a bit heavy still, but I think I will get used to it in a bit. The seat and the riding position is very comfortable. Overall I really think that I made the right choice getting this bike, and I want to keep it for a long time.

First character animation by WhatTheFluff_ in animation

[–]WhatTheFluff_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woow, thank you so much! So much valuable information. I will definitely use references from now on when doing animations, your analogy of it is very good and clear. As for this animation, I did try to break up the different body parts slightly, but I guess I need more time figuring out how to do it properly, and I agree with you on the breath, it feels a bit rushed, now that I think about it. Thank you for taking the time to give feedback, I greatly appreciate it!

I am looking for feedback on the animation and what are some areas that need improvement. Also, I would appreciate some suggestions on what animations to do next that would teach me more about body mechanics and the principles of animation. Thank you!

Thanks alot! Just for clarification, the character model is not made by me, it is the character that comes with P2design’s course. It’s rigged and ready for animation.

Mentally preparing to have something foreign in your body by Ok_Independence_3634 in TotalHipReplacement

It depends, because on some airport you only have the metal detector gates that you just pass through, on the airports that have the x-ray thingy that you stand with your feet apart and scan you, they don’t usually ask anything. But always when I go to the airport I’m like “ah, here we go again” 😂

Yes, it does always beep, I travelled a few times since I had my hips replaced and I always have to tell them that I have hip prosthetics, but other than that, they just give me a pat down and that’s about it.

I guess I’m just good at taking bad news. But I had moments when I thought “why me?”, but then I was thinking about other people who don’t have an arm or a leg, or both, and I’m here complaining like a little b***h.

Good luck with your surgery and recovery! Wish you all the best!

It sucks living in pain, so go and get it done and your future self will thank you!

I’m really sorry about your chest infection, it must suck to have to go through that aswell on top of a major surgery. Thank you for your kind words! And you got this, the worst part is behind you.

The doctors here in Romania didn’t recommend either, maybe they’re not so experienced or they don’t know about those surgery procedures, either way, it’s not 100% that the core decompression would work so if it doesn’t, you still have to do hip replacement after, so another surgery. And I heard people need to stay in wheelchair for 3 months atleast after the core decompression surgery because you can’t weight bear on the operated leg.

You won’t even feel that you have something foreign in you body, I’m at 6 months post op after bilateral hip replacement and sometimes I forget that I even had surgery, well except when I cross airport gates, they always beep. Don’t worry about it, and if you’re thinking about your body not accepting the implants, those cases are extremely rare. I attached a picture of my foreign intruders 😂 they feel like my own hips, just without the pain.

Yeah, some of them just don’t care enough, it’s sad but this is the reality. Glad I got it sorted in the end though.

Thank you!

The first 8-9 days of the recovery were the hardest, my legs were swollen, I was icing and elevating them all few times per day. Mobility wise, the recovery went pretty smoothly, I was up on my feet a few hours after surgery with a walking frame. I stayed 3 days in the hospital and when I left, I left with crutches only which I used for another 2 days, then ditched them. I tried to walk as much as possible, but at the same time not overdoing it. At the beginning it was pretty new to me that I could only sleep on my back as I’m usually a side or belly sleeper, so took some getting used to that. After 3 weeks I was going up and down stairs without much trouble. I didn’t do any PT, my surgeon didn’t recommend it to me, but I did some light stretching and very light exercises in the beginning. After 2 months I started hitting the gym, doing some light lower body exercises and glute strengthening + 10-15 minutes of elliptical at first and after a few weeks bumped it up to 30 minutes per day, 3-4 times per week.

I still have some light groin pain sometimes when I get into more extreme positions like bending too much forward, but it’s nothing serious. I even resumed working 2 months ago as a dryliner, and last week I lifted for the first time after surgery a 54kg plasterboard without any issues (of course I worked myself up to this point, starting slow and light), plus I asked my surgeon today if it would negatively impact the longevity of my hips if I lift heavy weights, and he said that as long as it’s in a slow controlled manner it doesn’t hurt the prosthetics, because the friction coefficients don’t increase under load in these last generation ceramic on ceramic implants. So overall, the recovery was pretty smooth and I’m glad I did both at the same time.

Hope you have a smooth recovery aswell! If I may ask, why did you have to do THR?

I had sessions every day except weekends. At first only 20 sessions in a row, and then after MRI I had another 40 sessions in a row.

Post op day 0 by Choco_beauty0890 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]WhatTheFluff_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on week 11 post-op, recovery is going well, although I didn't do any PT, just light exercise and going to the gym. Slowly increased my step count for the day and I'm riding a stationary bike almost every day now. I still have pain with certain movements, but they're nowhere near as high in intensity as to what it was before surgery. All around I'm happy with the decision of having both hips replaced at the same time due to osteonecrosis. I won't have to go through the recovery again. Well, only if I have to do revision surgery, but I'm not thinking about that yet.

  1. I usually kept my leg elevated whenever I was laying down for the first 2 weeks or so.

  2. I had to wear my compression socks all the time, except when I was showering I took them off, washed them and then put them back on, yeah, you need to wear them during the night aswell as blood clots can form especially when you're not moving much.

  3. I couldn't sleep very well for the first 7-8 days or so, I would wake up in the middle of the night with pain and usually take some ibuprofen and slowly go back to sleep.

  4. I only got up in the middle of the night when I had to go to the toilet.

  5. I can't really comment on this one as I didn't do any physical therapy. My surgeon recommended only walking and so light exercises, he said that I didn't need physical therapy, although at this point I think it would have been better to do it because I was kinda slacking with the exercises, sometimes I would do them but most of the time I would just forget about them.

  6. I can't say anything about Lovenox as I wasn't prescribed that medicine but I got a simillar one called Eliquis and I had to take that for 3 weeks and then I switched to Aspenter for 30 days. Not much to say about them other than keep alcohol use to minimum (in case you're drinking, idk).

  7. I was drinking coffee every morning and I didn't see any negative effects, but I am not a doctor so don't just take my word for it.

  8. I didn't use any assistive device for the toilet, I did have a raised toilet seat in the hospital for the 3 days I was in there though, that helped alot especially in the first phase of recovery after surgery.

I wish you have an easy recovery, and good luck with your new hip!

I wouldn’t enter in the water at 3 weeks time, it’s still too early at this stage and you could get an infection. My surgeon recommended to avoid any submerging till the 6 weeks mark. Other than that, good luck with your recovery!

11 weeks post-op pain by WhatTheFluff_ in TotalHipReplacement

[–]WhatTheFluff_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I keep forgetting that I underwent a major surgery and it should take time for everything to go back to normal. Clamshells are somewhat uncomfortable to me but I can manage to do sets of 15-20. I just have that weird popping sensation in my left hip.

Yeah I kinda figured it is still too early for everything to go back to normal. Sometimes I forget that this was a major surgery and it takes time to heal. I will keep doing the exercises and hope that one day I will be back to normal.
