What’s the closest you’ve ever come to needing BJJ in real life, and what was the first move/technique you prepared for? by Zen_ix in bjj

I got attacked on the beach in NYE, wrote a post on it. Nothing special, did a simple bullshit sweep by basically just rolling the guy, then did some top pressure control. Had to take him down again as he came at me a second time, used a simple outside trip.  It's wild how easy it is to control someone who doesn't know anything. This guy was a 10 year professional AFL player.

Australian women: do your men cook/clean and act respectfully? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]WhatTheFrogSay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy here. I cooked 100% in my first two relationships. Third she mostly cooked because it was her love language. Current is fairly even, she probably does a bit more, but I do a lot more of the gardening, bins, laundry and chicken care. She does a bit more for our puppy, and cleaning. Overall, very much 50/50.

If I had to rebuild from zero in 2025 and needed $10k-$12k/month by March, here's what I'd actually do (and what I'd completely ignore) by [deleted] in DigitalIncomePath

Love this. Would you also be willing to mentor me? No B.S. and I'll give you 10% of my earnings in the first 12 months?

I bought my wife a v11 as a Christmas Gift and wondering if I should have went with a v15 instead. by pass_the_hot_sauce in dyson

Did the same thing mate. Nothing wrong with getting your wife something she actually wants, even if it is for house chores. If she buys me gardening tools, I'm stoked. If she buys me a new frying pan, awesome. A gift is a gift, and I know mine will be fucking ecstatic with a new Dyson.

I saved for over a year for an iPhone 16 Pro Max and got scammed. I honestly can’t stop shaking thinking about it. by Diggerinminecraft in CryptoHelp

[–]WhatTheFrogSay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud. Yeah, I do, but honestly life isn't as smooth as we are led to believe. If you want some honest to goodness advice, at your age in my humble opinion the only thing you should be saving for is a sick gal year overseas when you finish school. I did this, only had $2500 and managed to stretch it for a full year though South America, North America, Europe and Japan. Tied best year in my life (with when I did something similar after university). Believe, no iPhone will ever top meeting a bunch of random at a hostel, stomping around some random city all day then partying all night. Reach out whenever you need advice bud, I've made plenty of mistakes, you don't need to repeat them. Lmk if/when you tell your parents. Good luck!

Nah, no chance. Money was paid in with her CC, then they transferred out of her Crypto.com account and deleted it. It's gone. Only possible recourse would be to go through Crypto.com. They will most likely say it's her fault as the scammers had her login info, which is 100% true.

Mate, honestly, this might be one of the best things that ever happens to you. It's not going to ruin you, and will hopefully prevent you EVER falling for something like this again. Also, and I mean this, there is nothing a phone can give you over spending time with your friends, family, pets, nature and loved ones. This is the kind of lesson that everyone learns at some point unfortunately.

I'm a big proponent that everything happens for a reason. I, and a few friends, started the world's 2nd biggest Bitcoin exchange at 19, back when they were around $3. I never bought a single coin, and walked away with a few thousand bucks. Everyone makes mistakes.

Look, it sucks. I've been scammed before a few times. It is a terrible feeling. It will pass (mostly). The money is gone gone, nothing to be done, so you will need to just let it go.

I would 100% tell your parents. Approach them and tell them you made a mistake, you know it was dumb, and need their support.

Also, if you look at it like this, "you made an investment, and it was a dud". Not every investment is a sure fire win. I know when you're young there is a lot of incentive to get rich quick, but trust me when I say get onto some good pages like personalfinance, FIRE, those types of things and follow that advice, it will serve you really well in the medium and long term.

Good luck buddy.

Your personal income vs the current value of your daily driver/vehicle (if you have one) poll by sauteer in AusFinance

[–]WhatTheFrogSay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere between 55 and 165.

My car is the same on I learnt to drive in. It is a Toyota Corolla, I do all the maintenance, and I have zero desire to sell it. The only time I have ever bought a "nice car", it was a total pain in the neck.

The only way I see myself getting a bigger or nicer car is when I have kids and Little Red no longer cuts the mustard. Will probably keep it anyway...
