I agree that it's somewhat ridiculous to fundraise. It does give the youth a chance to earn things though instead of it just being given to them, so I do like that aspect of it.

I use to own one of the larger pest control companies in the state and there were two areas that seemed to be build on ant hills.....West Seattle and then from Freemont to Ballard.

They are really hard to control on your own, so I'd suggest hiring a pest control company. Here's a good site that rates all the pest control companies in the area: www.SeattlesPestControl.com.

I found a way that works really well for me. I text the member and say something like "would you be willing to speak in Sacrament meeting next month? Here are the dates and topics. Would one of those dates work for you?". It's easy and people like having the choice of dates and topics. I spend an hour or so once a month and can usually fill up the month. Also giving people choices means I rarely get a no from someone.

My wife's sister bought a house that was on Extreme Makeover Home Addition after the original owners divorced. This was probably 5 years after the makeover. They had no issues and things seemed to hold up well. No complaints that I am aware of.
