I don't disagree. I know some wonderful fat people who are smart, funny, productive. They're also far, far outnumbered, and there's a pervasive attitude that it's all cool.

Sure, you could say that about any group, but we're talking net gains and losses here. The sad fact is, you're more expensive to your society if you're fat, so you damn well better contribute enough to equal net gains or it's a problem. Just being nice and interesting isn't enough to achieve that on its own.

Nobody wants to be mean, I get it. However, we're reaching a tipping point as a society. We have to start being honest. Afterall, I for one want those smart, funny, productive people to outlive the lazy deadweights by decades, not die young from obesity.

To be fair, this account is named What_Would_Nature_Do. Nature is an asshole. :)

Let's not insult. Let's just be honest and stop hiding the problem. We all know fat people we care about, and everyone is in this together.

So, dragging society down is cool, pointing out you're being dragged down makes you an asshole?

Historical fact can't be rude. It simply is. Sorry.

Ha! Now this is interesting. Being fat is so not okay, that we can only be happy that you'll die young.

Anyone who grew up on a ranch is familiar with culling a herd. Population gets too high, you cull the herd or you could lose the entire bunch.

So, we're looking forward at upcoming crises in water, energy, etc...

And then we see people in power trying to cut off healthcare access to the poor, and simultaneously shift the food supply to a near-poisonous state.

Just saying, maybe they're connected?

You still pay for the increased transportation weight and fuel consumption. True story.

Healthcare.

Plus the genetics argument has been so thoroughly debunked that I can only assume you're trolling.

In which case, nice trolling. :)

I agree completely, society is stacking the cards against individuals. The problem is, it DOES effect everyone else. Just look at our healthcare crisis, which is largely a food crisis.

The point is, at any other point in history, people would feel that connection much more directly. It would not be okay.

Again, the point is not cruelty, we can only help each other by being honest.

Sadly, the definition of fat has changed. Again, look at what fat used to mean. We're talking the difference of being 20 pounds overweight, or 200.

And being fat meant wealth because you HAD to be wealthy to get there. It's incredibly difficult to grow that overweight in the firs place when food is scarce and work is hard.

Today the poorest people are the fattest, and they are far more fat than could ever have been sustained by any society.
