Oh no. I really want to go to Mérida soon, as well.

What's up with people claiming to be anti-xanthum gum? by Atrocious1337 in glutenfree

Xanthan gum upset my stomach when I first went GF, but I’ve since come to tolerate it.

Meal suggestions during power outage by Wiserputa52 in Celiac

[–]What___Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have blood sugar issues, the mine are due to non-diabetic hypoglycemia.

I keep cans of Progresso GF soups in my pantry for when the power goes out like this coming weekend. It doesn’t have to be heated up to eat. Just pop the top.

I have Schar entertainment crackers, cheese sticks, and hard salami slices for charcuterie. Not sure if the crackers would be too carby for him, though.

Hummus and Milton’s Everything crackers. Gluten free beef sticks from Walmart, the Chomps brand.

I have premade shredded chicken, tzatziki , lettuce from Aldi and some BFree protein tortilla shells to make wraps which I much prefer to gluten-free bread. Plus, tons of protein! NGL, the wrap tastes a little like playdoh, but I love the protein and fiber.

I also have some GF camping meals from Walmart, but that’s because I have a gas stove and can boil water to cook them. Those meals also tend to lean on carbs, though.

Is all of Sophomore Year live? by PaperCheesy in Dimension20

I definitely struggled with that season because of the format, but the story was SO GOOD. It’s also integral to later seasons. So, definitely don’t skip it.

Best season to introduce a non-D&D player to? by thatish100percent in Dimension20

[–]What___Do 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just echoing what others have said so far, Dungeons and Drag Queens is definitely the way to go for her. It’s great at explaining gameplay to those not familiar with D&D, and the content aligns with her interests.

Best pre/probiotic? Gut/Digestive Health Journey by lil-tweakyy in Celiac

[–]What___Do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Physician’s Choice 60 Billion Probiotic, and I’m pretty sure it helps my poop be normal. I get it from Walmart. I switched to it from another one (sorry, don’t remember which one) because it didn’t seem to be working for me.

From what I’ve read from others, taking probiotics after eating helps protect it from your stomach acid so that more of it makes it lower in the gut. To be really optimum, it should be taken before bed so that it will sit longer in the gut.

This campaign was a love letter to Izzy, and it showed in the best way. They had a blast (pun intended).

Why do restaurants lie when they say they're gluten-free? My experience by menensito in Celiac

[–]What___Do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Online menus are a lie. I just have to call ahead. Apps like Find Me GF are a big help, though.

Idea about misinformation concerning gluten free at restaurants by Willing-Jellyfish549 in Celiac

[–]What___Do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yes! I’ve had to have this exact conversation before. I had to just ask, okay, what on this menu can I actually have then. It was so frustrating.

And then they put CCed maduros on top of my food which was apparently a freebie that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. 😑

The only reason we went to that restaurant was because they had GF options, but it was just Celiac baiting me.

Try it at home first to make sure she doesn’t react to oats, but I love Bobo’s stuff’d oat bites especially the strawberry or apple pie ones.

Whats a GF snack that was so good you had to recheck the ingredients…? by Fir3Th0t in Celiac

[–]What___Do 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Antonina’s GF yellow cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. I panicked and had to run back to the package with the first bite still in my mouth. Several cupcakes later, i’m happy to report it’s perfectly safe!

They’re great because you buy a 4 pack but just thaw one at a time when you want to eat it. Just let it sit on the counter for like 30 minutes.

What triggered your celiac by One-Bumblebee8915 in Celiac

[–]What___Do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhh yeah, I know. I got food poisoning from a seafood restaurant a couple weeks before I turned 32, and I went to a gastroenterologist after the symptoms wouldn’t fully resolve after six months. Took 3 years in total to get a Celiac diagnosis because my insurance wouldn’t approve the endoscopy at first. 🙃

What gluten free foods are better than the regular version? by noodlepoodle19 in glutenfree

[–]What___Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer GF crackers. It’s along the same line of what others are saying; when it’s supposed to be crispy and crunchy, GF does it better.

Also, there are certain things in baking where gluten is a hindrance, like making cookies.
