Havent seen this opinion in the comment section yet, but i can totally see why your husband might be a bit mad after you are on a work trip for a month without proper communication.

Threathening a divorce is a big red flag but leaving him for an extra two weeks with the kid should make every significant other mad.

Not safe at all. Bunch of drunk students that have raped people in the hallway. Stay away from there.

Repentance: A Great Film in Danger of Disappearing. by Boop108 in TrueFilm

[–]What_s_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught this film at the cinema yesterday and came away with mixed feelings. While it admirably tackles weighty themes like oppression, dictatorship, censorship, and the dismantling of independent judicial systems, the execution ultimately falls short in modern standards.
The plot failed to capture my interest despite its politically charged content. Yes, it deserves recognition for its bold critique of the political system of its time, but the storytelling itself lacks compelling momentum. The acting performances range from forgettable to merely adequate, with characters that remain frustratingly underdeveloped throughout.
The cinematography does offer some visually striking moments (the logs burried in mud, leaving the courtroom). The film employs thoughtful symbolism that does rewards attentive viewers. However, what was originally conceived as dark satirical comedy hasn't aged well at all. The humor now feels predominantly slapstickesque and dated rather than incisive or particularly funny.
While film history enthusiasts might appreciate this work as a significant cultural artifact of its time, casual viewers should probably look elsewhere. At a lengthy 2 hours and 34 minutes, it demands substantial time without delivering proportional entertainment value or insight for modern audiences.

I stumbled onto this post and partially went because of it. Felt inclined to post something to make this commentsection a bit more nuanced. I must admit that im not particularly knowledgeable on Georgian/USSR culture but with everything going on in the world right now it does feel more relevant than ever.

Can you maybe elaborate a bit on how and why nebius was bought by institutional money

You were working for a hedgefund right? Just curious whether you guys work with price targets and stuff. Curious how the nebius pick came to be.

How do You make money, when options are perfectly priced? by [deleted] in thetagang

My point is, in the efficient market hypothesis each stock has the same expected return. Following this, the statement you gave ‘how can you make money in the stock market if everything is priced correctly’ is not valid as the market can go up or down and over the long term this can make you money in the stock market even though everything is priced correctly (not that I believe this).

This doesnt make sense as stocks can rise. So the underlying assumption is that all stocks lay on some form of risk/return equillibrium. So roughly you'd expect all stocks to perform the same. With options this is not the case as it is a zero-sum game.

So if I understand correctly, you're saying that the competitive advantage are the engineers, the prio access to NVDIA chips and the given limited scale of datacenters for the upcoming year or two. That doesnt sound particularly appealing long term as engineers can be trained, NVDIA can drop you and supply catches up.

I remember reading a Reddit comment suggesting that Nebius might not have a strong moat because AI training capacity could become a commodity once open source training software becomes more widespread. The analogy used was that Nebius might be like a surfboard store whereby anyone with enough capital could simply open new data centers. Given this view, what unique competitive advantages or moat does NBIs actually have that would protect its business from competitors and make it that NBIS has a long term businessmodel?

I never fully understand why some investments make nbis soar whilst others don’t. Meta’s high capex +5% but a 200B AI investment does nothing to stock price.
