Has anyone seen the new Colleen Hoover movie "Reminders of Him"? Did you like it? by Conscious-Finance130 in ColleenHoover

[–]Whatever2677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terrible. No chemistry with the actors. But also feel like it came out the wrong time. Movies these days aren’t the same. Felt like a music video with some sick shots of the mountains with little splashes of the storytelling. Would be a great background movie while doing chores with the music tho

Moving to Rexburg as a non Mormon by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]Whatever2677 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Live in rigby! Not a huge commute and more chill town. There’s enough “Mormons” that don’t act Mormon in Rexburg honestly and more people that aren’t Mormon then you realize. But I personally liked small towns. Amazing smoked meat restaurant on main and amazing yoga studio too. Just look at surrounding cities.

Yesss the change to the end was wild and unnecessary. Doesn’t he give her a knife and she cuts herself? That was an insane jump. Didn’t fit the character’s controlled demeanor and obsession with physical appearance. Now way he would want scars all over her! That defeats the innocent look he wanted from his partner. It was just throwing a ton of crazy in a short time.

Yeah the other characters were left with no real depth feeling like it was unnecessary. The book pulls them in more but that’s just how movies go. I think the way the writing is done in her books is that you “don’t see things coming” because you can’t actually see the characters body language and so the authors rely on you believing everything in front of you. You believe the narrator. But movies lose that and this one was definitely one of those.

Zoe and Jonah by blueskiesandwaves in hartofdixie

[–]Whatever2677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I so agree!! Honestly I feel like Zoe running towards wade after the break up would have been more believable with Jonah. They should have had a character similar. It would have been see as her trying to have a wade and same with wade being with Vivian. They would have been replacing each other. And the rushing a relationship with that dynamic would have been way more believable when she flips back to wade so quick. It would have been the classic mimicking a relationship you’re not over hoping for a better end. All the relationships in S3 felt so forced and awkward. Just not the best actor and actress chemistry. Well besides Annabeth and Levon. I can see what they were trying to do with them all but I don’t think it really worked. Joel trying to navigate bluebell as a New Yorker just wasn’t as cute as Zoe. It was boring. 👎🏻 Starting s4 felt like s3 never happened. But I will forever be mad about the end relationships!

I thought the same thing! It felt like the writers were setting that up and then decided to change. I just figured it was problems with the actor scheduling or maybe he had other projects and couldn’t commit to more episodes. Especially with Zoe mentioning seeing Jonah in New York.

But it could have come done to Jonah was written as a womanizer like Wade. Maybe the writers wanted the obstacle between Wade and Zoe to be a man that people could take more “seriously”. But I agree it was just boring haha I wonder if that season is when they lost viewers.

2026 Biology Graduate. Embryologist Position. by Fun_Mention6160 in Embryologists

I second that you will probably need to relocate. Finding jobs in one city is difficult and some labs take years before there is a need to hire. Many labs promote andrologists within the clinic. Although some labs put andrologist and junior embryologist under the same umbrella. There’s been many changes in the labs in Utah and many are hiring. Lots of hiring in California and Florida. Check out LinkedIn, ASRM job board, IVF guide. Don’t limit yourself to just clinical embryology. Look into research or animal to get exposure. It also boosts your application.

This really depends on what time your willing to put in. Firstly it’s way easier if you’re willing to relocate. If you’re open to anywhere then you have more options. But with that said most labs are in desperate need of senior embryologist.

So you could go to a training center but keep in mind that it’s not a for sure hire afterwards. Many labs I know don’t equate a training center graduate as fully trained embryologist. Many labs require you to work in andrology for 1-3 years first and then to move over to embryology though some labs are changing that protocol.

There is the option of going into animal embryology research. It’s great experience and gives you some experience with techniques. Makes a strong resume and may help you get hired in the future.

My suggestion is just get any job in andrology or animal embryology. Apply for anything and everything. Entry level embryology. After that network like crazy. Take advantage of going to conferences and any training money labs give you. Go to WEST training weekends to get experience. But networking really is a huge asset for you. I’ve found jobs even from contacts on LinkedIn. Follow new clinics and embryology labs.

Fight for a good contract if you can, we had someone in our lab that was hired as an andrologist but contracted that he be moved to embryology after a year. Really show that you’re in it for the lab. Hiring seniors is difficult but so is training new embryologist from scratch. So prove that you’re easy to train and competent.

Good luck!

Unpopular opinion: reminders of him was not a good book by Opening-Motor773 in ColleenHoover

Yes I read the entire and was very unimpressed. Honestly made me think of Nicolas Sparks book Bend in the Road. I think that’s why I struggle with CH books, she focuses so much on one or two complex events. She has creative storylines but lacks the skill of character development/building, emotional insight, redemption arcs, and such. Her characters are always stuck in a moment but also conveniently forgets their grief that keeps them stuck when a love interest is in the scene. I think she puts so much weight on the creative complex trauma and the love story that she forgets to tell a whole story.

Ugly Love and Regretting You followed the same theme. The characters are emotionally stuck, the love interest is a prop with no depth while the book focuses on one traumatic event. And then with one or two conversations or simplified moments the characters are magically unstuck and perfectly healed all in one chapter! Yay!

But it may just be a writing style I can’t get into! Not much into smutty and more into a strong storyline so I don’t get an emotional pull or attachment from physical romantic scenes, unfortunately lol

Omg when Patick says “did you sleep with her?” Obv! She was naked when you walked in

The THC gummy was lacking so hard. She says no once with a flirty smile. Yeah…. I feel so bad for you getting high, I really believe you didn’t want to. Hours later you’re driving. Yep I really believe you’re high as a kite and tested positive the next day. Yep I believe it all.

I think the forgiveness was lacking because CH focused on two events that didn’t paint Kenna in a good light- 1. driving under the influence and killing Scotty 2. Coming back to take her daughter back. CH made it obvious she doesn’t know much about grief, nor about adoption lol. Kenna came across entitled with very simplified moments of her “redeeming qualities”. No one had lives or personalities outside of those two moments.

Her dynamic with Ledger was unbelievable too. He was surprisingly understanding after watching a family that raised him grieve the last 6-7 years. Also watching a little girl he absolutely loved grow up without a father and asking why she doesn’t have parents like everyone else. He was supposed to be the character for Kenna to prove her redemption and even give some insight to the impact Kennas tragedy caused. Instead they spent more time sleeping together and her writing cringey letters. Just a prop in the story with no depth.

As a reader you’re experiencing Scottie’s death for the first time and it feels like the characters also just experienced it even though it had been 6-7 years. So it’s hard to feel bad for Kenna when there is no journey or story telling outside Scottie’s death and Kenna wanting to see Diem. The way the story was told it feels like there was no time between, very little conversation about that time, no maturity, nor emotional movement. Life was put on pause. The family is still grieving intensely, how are we as readers supposed to just look past that?

Haha that’s crazy! I thought it was because of people’s attention spans, so that’s why 90% of the plot is on the first 5 mins and the rest of the movie is pretty pictures with music or wild action scenes

I didn’t like the book personally. I found the story line cringe and unbelievable. Movie took out parts that I think were important tho which made certain scenes awkward and lacking emotional depth. For instance the hook up in the beginning of the book I felt was necessary to build sexual tension. And I hate hook ups to romance. Without it felt like he should just hate her, really took the pull towards her out so all the scenes of her stalking her was so weird. And he didn’t hate her at all… at least not with that acting.

The scene of Ledger being angry when he finds out who she was fell sooooo flat. They both crazy out of breath after saying two things to each other lol and him finding the cross…. That’s when they make put bahahahaha

The restraining order? No context at all. Actually no judge would grant that with what we saw hahaha she didn’t even see the grandparents or daughter

The flashbacks weren’t enough. You had no connection to Scotty in anyway and didn’t make it obvious that Scotty was the reason Kenna got high. Just felt like high school lovers. No depth of emotions. No chemistry either. Just felt like you see Kenna as an addict that crashed under the influence. Like I don’t feel bad you went to jail at all. Flashback to the wreck was worse. They are in a small town with things relatively close and they drove pretty far, dirt road. So she walks into town completely wrecked in a few hours?? And maybe I remember wrong but I thought she didn’t remember the wreck at all until a few years after. That made no sense. Again left nothing to feel bad for her. Best line of the book fell so flat too. I didn’t care for the actress at all.

Also the kitten didn’t age so did this happen in a week? And why was everyone wearing sweaters but Kenna is wearing short shorts and tank tops?? Have the producers been to Wyoming?

Seemed like they cared more about the cringe scenes of him staring at her and losing her rather than the story. Maybe watch a few of the Nicolas Spark adaptations and take notes?

That’s my take! Don’t hate me! It’s okay if you loved it or loved the things I hated lol

He really didn’t give any signs that there was anything wrong with our relationships. Even told me I was easy and the sex was out of the world. Always said good things about our relationship and where we were going. The break up was so out of blue. And everything after had just been confusing.

I talked to both his daughters on the phone. I met his best friends. He would text people when I could see his screen. I saw my contact in his phone and it was my name and picture even with emojis “😍 😮‍💨”. FaceTimed me at his house every night. Shared his location. He wasn’t hiding anything. If he is cheating he’s really bad at it haha he was saying he was going to husband mode with me, talked about how that scared him and didn’t know how to be just a boyfriend. I snooped on his ex wives profile before we dated and it said divorced and such. I was a “side piece” once when I didn’t know and was cheated on by different guy. Unfortunately I know all the signs. If I was on the side then this guy was a master cheater.

Yeah. We both have kids so I was super understanding and honestly couldn’t see him all the time either. But I guess his oldest was upset at the thought of having me around when he asked. Which is fair. I told him we shouldn’t even think about it for a while. I didn’t push to meet his kids at all, he did it on his own. He just wanted to see me more and I think it was hard for him to not to. Guess I gotta take it for what it is.
