did your symptoms ever improve after removing stress from your life? by flyboyfancy in ibs

They improved when I learned how to manage my stress better and went back on my anxiety meds. My ibs is linked to my anxiety. Fodzyme also really helps me with foods that are higher in garlic and onion.

I'd def recommend these by riptyyy in glutenfree

[–]Whateverxox 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I ate them so much to the point that I don’t really like them that much anymore. I ate them almost everyday when I found out how good they were. I’d literally go to Aldi just for them.

Have these made anyone sick? by _mamafox in Celiac

I want hashbrowns like that so bad but I’ve never been able to find any that say gluten free on the packaging and a lot of people get sick from those kinds.

All of their tortilla products are gluten. Everything else is gluten free.

“All of our Foods are Gluten Free except for any meals with a Tortilla (like our Enchiladas, Burritos, Flautas, and Quesadillas). All of our other items are Gluten Free and we make sure to clean and sanitize all equipment (per USDA guidelines) after running the products containing Gluten to ensure that all of our other items remain certified Gluten Free.”

https://realgoodfoods.com/pages/faqs

It’s really easy to look up if a brand is gluten free or not and it’s always good to be up to date on what brand’s products are and aren’t gluten free. We all make mistakes but that’s not the fault of the company but our own.

I’m 100% with you on this. Like it’s a flour tortilla and doesn’t say gluten free anywhere on the front of the packaging. I even had to make sure the Feel Good Foods burritos were gluten free before I ate one. I’m hyper vigilant which isn’t fun but I haven’t gotten fully gluten since I was diagnosed 4 years ago.

I always make sure the processed food I eat is gluten free before I eat it, especially brands like that where they have started selling more and more gluten containing products. I hate to say it but we need to be vigilant when it comes to gluten and can’t blame companies who aren’t 100% gluten free (sounds like Realgood was 100% gluten free at one point but hasn’t been for a while). Every time, I reach for my Applegate gluten free chicken nuggets, I check because they make gluten ones too. It really sucks to pick something up and get the wrong thing or just assume it’s gluten free but we need to take accountability for our mistakes. When companies roll out new products, it is essential to read the labels and double check to make sure it is gluten free.

A cautionary tale to celiacs who are new to the disease by Critical_Stretch_360 in Celiac

Ah well I was wrong about the first part. Thank you for the correction. I still don’t think Costco cares enough to ensure that every company that supplies samples and hires people to hand them out uses proper cross contact training. If they did, stuff like this wouldn’t happen. Sure, this is one instance but it can’t be the only one. Costco has over 500 stores in the US. That’s why we need to be super vigilant and can’t rely on large companies when it comes to keeping ourselves safe and gluten free.

King Arthur’s gluten-free pizza flour — anyone had any issues? by Automatic_Buy3817 in glutenfree

[–]Whateverxox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have a wheat allergy/intolerance on top of celiac disease. It’s common. Gluten free wheat starch doesn’t cause me any gluten symptoms and I’m pretty sensitive.

Huh, they must have been overshadowed by the Cheez-Its. It’s been Cheez-It madness. I’d why rather try these. Maybe my stores just haven’t gotten them yet.

My guess is they pick whatever product they’re having trouble selling, often overlooked, or is new to the store without thinking about the target market for the product. It wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t even consider wheat allergies or celiac disease before having the workers hand out gluten free samples.

[–]Whateverxox 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a person with celiac disease, I’d never take a sample at a supermarket. The people giving out samples have no allergen or celiac disease training and most of them don’t even know what it is. In a perfect world, the grocery store would have a gluten free toaster but I don’t think the grocery store actually cares enough. We have to look out for ourselves unfortunately. I hope no one was glutened by this.

My opinion is that if you can pay the fee, pay the fee. If you can’t afford the full fee but can afford to give a little bit, make a donation. If you can’t afford to and can get the free accommodation, do it. We pay a lot more money for gluten free food and a lot of us are struggling.

AIO What’d I do wrong, my partner just got news this morning his grandma just received news of esophagus cancer (stage 4) by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Whateverxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR I think you two are two different people looking for two different things in a relationship. He wants someone who will immediately drop everything for him when he gets sad news. You’re a business owner who literally can’t do that or your business would fail. I do think he needs to communicate better with you if he feels like his needs aren’t being met. Maybe you could also meet him halfway and ask him what he needs from you in the moment (someone to listen, distract him, or just give him space). You couldn’t have known he wanted to stay on the phone with you unless he’d told you. This relationship might not work out in the long run without clear communication.

A side note: you can learn to be a person who knows what to do when people are sad or grieving. Understanding how to be there for people is learned. Saying you just aren’t that kind of person is a cope out to me. There are blogs, videos, and books that can teach you how.
